Champasak Provincial Delegation Visits and Extends New Year Greetings to Dong Thap Province

(DTO) On the afternoon of February 4, a high-level delegation from Champasak Province (Lao People's Democratic Republic), together with a working group from the Lao Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, visited and extended Lunar New Year greetings to the leaders of Dong Thap Province.

Mr. Ngo Chi Cuong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Dong Thap Provincial National Assembly Delegation, received and worked with the delegation.

Along with the robust development of bilateral ties, cooperation between Dong Thap and Lao partners has flourished recently, contributing to deepening the fine friendship between the two Parties and the two States of Vietnam and Laos. 

In 2025, Dong Thap's export turnover to Laos reached 1.8 million USD, an 84.44% increase over the same period, with major export items including seafood, shrimp chips, confectionery, and cereal products.

Furthermore, Dong Thap and various Lao localities exchange annual visits. Regarding Champasak Province specifically, in 2025, Dong Thap coordinated many cooperative activities within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding for the 2022–2025 period signed by both parties.

Mr. Souphap Thammahacksa, Deputy Secretary of the Champasak Provincial Party Committee, congratulated Dong Thap on its socio-economic achievements and expressed his desire for both localities to continue effectively implementing the signed agreements. 

He reaffirmed the commitment to deepening cooperation across all fields—particularly in healthcare, social welfare, human resource training, and infrastructure—thereby maintaining and strengthening the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in general, and between Dong Thap and Champasak in particular.

On the occasion of the Vietnamese Traditional Tet, on behalf of the delegation, the Deputy Secretary of the Champasak Provincial Party Committee extended his best wishes to the Party Committee, authorities, Armed Forces, and people of Dong Thap Province.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Ngo Chi Cuong emphasized that the successful 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 12th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party have opened high expectations for the prosperous development of both countries in the new term.

Stating that the potential for cooperation between Dong Thap and Lao localities remains vast, Mr. Ngo Chi Cuong hoped that the Deputy Secretary of the Champasak Provincial Party Committee would act as a bridge to further deepen the partnership between the two provinces and other Lao localities in the coming time.
