A Warm and Heartfelt Gathering of Dong Thap People in HCMC
(DTO) On the morning of March 6 in Ho Chi Minh City, the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee, in collaboration with the Liaison Association of Dong Thap People, held the 2026 Spring Gathering of Dong Thap People in Ho Chi Minh City in a lively and heartfelt atmosphere.

The gathering was attended by former Vice President Truong My Hoa; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Le Quoc Phong; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap Province Phan Van Thang; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Dieu; representatives of departments, agencies, and localities, as well as a large number of people from Dong Thap living and working in Ho Chi Minh City.
As a new spring arrives, the reunion of fellow Dong Thap natives far from home was not only an opportunity for joyful reunions but also a moment to reflect on the province’s development over the past year. The bright highlights of Dong Thap’s socio-economic picture have filled many people living away from home with pride. At the same time, the event created an opportunity for attendees to exchange ideas with provincial leaders, contribute suggestions, and work together to support the continued development of their hometown.
Before the official ceremony began, the hall was filled with cheerful conversations and warm greetings. Musical performances celebrating the land and people of Dong Thap further heightened the emotional atmosphere.
Speaking at the gathering, Senior Lieutenant General Tran Don, Chairman of the Liaison Association of Dong Thap People, expressed his joy and appreciation for the deep attention from provincial leaders. He called on fellow Dong Thap natives living away from home to remain united and continue supporting one another in work and life, while also contributing in meaningful ways to help build a stronger and more prosperous Dong Thap.

On behalf of the provincial leadership, Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Dieu shared key socio-economic achievements of the province in 2025, emphasizing that these results were made possible in part thanks to the valuable contributions of Dong Thap people living in Ho Chi Minh City across many fields, especially social welfare and investment connectivity.
He added that after administrative restructuring, Dong Thap is now operating within an expanded development space, connecting the southwestern border to the East Sea. This represents not only a change in administrative boundaries but also an expansion in vision, thinking, and development models. As 2026 marks the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the new-term Provincial Party Congress, Dong Thap has identified the need to accelerate development with a focus on strategic breakthroughs. To achieve these goals, the province looks forward to the continued support of entrepreneurs, intellectuals, and experts from Dong Thap who are living and working in Ho Chi Minh City and other localities.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, the Vice Chairman extended his best wishes for health, happiness, and success to fellow residents, entrepreneurs, businesses, students, and all delegates, expressing hope that the Dong Thap community will continue accompanying the province on its new development journey.

On this occasion, many collectives and individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee in recognition of their positive contributions to the activities of the Dong Thap Community Association and to social welfare efforts in Dong Thap in 2025. The Liaison Association also presented awards to numerous collectives and individuals.

The gathering concluded with warm handshakes, promises to meet again, and hopes for a bright new year ahead. Although each person follows their own path and career in the bustling city, their love for Dong Thap remains the strong bond connecting those who live far from their hometown.
