Accelerating Construction of the Dong Thap-Tay Ninh-Vinh Long Interprovincial Raw Water Supply Project
(DTO) The investor of the Dong Thap - Tay Ninh - Vinh Long Interprovincial Raw Water Supply Project, located in Kim Son Commune, Dong Thap Province, is accelerating construction of raw water pumping stations and the transmission pipeline system to bring the project into operation as soon as possible.

The project is invested in by DNP-Song Tien Raw Water Co., Ltd. Construction began on October 24, 2025, with a total investment of more than 1.82 trillion VND for Phase 1.
The project has a designed capacity of 300,000 cubic meters per day and includes main pumping stations and approximately 115 kilometers of pipelines.

As of October 17, 2026, the investor is stepping up construction of key project components, including raw water pumping stations and the transmission pipeline system. Overall progress has reached approximately 20%.
Le Trung Hai, Director of DNP-Song Tien Raw Water Co., Ltd., said that under the phased investment plan, the project will initially focus on approximately 70 kilometers of pipelines to meet water supply needs in the former Tien Giang and Long An areas.

After completing the required legal procedures, the company began simultaneous construction of the pumping stations and raw water transmission pipelines from the Dong Tam pumping station to the former Long An area (now part of Tay Ninh Province) in July 2026. Approximately 16 kilometers of pipelines have been installed to date.
The company aims to bring these pumping stations and pipelines into operation by the end of the first quarter of 2027. Businesses in Tan Huong, Long Jiang and Tan Phuoc 1 industrial parks have visited the project site and registered their demand for water from the project.

Le Trung Hai added that the company would continue mobilizing workers and equipment and taking advantage of favorable weather to accelerate construction. Throughout the process, the investor and contractors are paying particular attention to complying with construction plans agreed upon with relevant authorities.
According to DNP-Song Tien Raw Water Co., Ltd., once completed, the project will ensure the transmission of non-saline raw water from the Tien River and Nguyen Tan Thanh Canal to existing clean water treatment plants in Dong Thap, Tay Ninh and Vinh Long provinces. With sufficient capacity to meet the needs of more than 2 million people, the project will supply water for daily use, production and key industrial parks and clusters across the region.

In recent years, the Mekong Delta has been severely affected by climate change. Saltwater intrusion has penetrated further inland, droughts have persisted, and groundwater resources have declined significantly. Many residents have faced domestic water shortages, while industrial parks and agricultural production areas have been forced to scale back operations during the dry season.
Against this backdrop, the Interprovincial Raw Water Supply Project is expected to help address freshwater shortages by providing a stable, safe and sustainable source of water for treatment. It will support daily life, production and socioeconomic development in Dong Thap, Tay Ninh and Vinh Long provinces during the dry season and periods of saltwater intrusion.
