At the ceremony, Ho Thi Gon, Vice Chairwoman of Binh Xuan Ward People’s Committee, recounted the heroic combat legacy of Battalion 514B in the 1968 Battle of Ao Vong. Despite the enemy’s overwhelming numbers and firepower, local forces fought bravely, defeating a large-scale sweep by U.S.-backed government in South Vietnam, inflicting heavy losses and firmly holding their ground.

Ho Thi Gon, Member of the Standing Committee of the Ward Party Committee and Vice Chairwoman of Binh Xuan Ward People’s Committee, addresses the ceremony.

She emphasized that the Ao Vong Victory exemplifies the heroic spirit of the liberation forces and the Battalion 514B. The triumph stands as a vivid testament to the revolutionary tradition of “staying loyal to the Party, remaining devoted to the people, accomplishing any mission, overcoming any hardship, defeating any enemy,” contributing to the overall success of the resistance war against the U.S.

In recent years, the Ao Vong Victory Memorial has become an important site for educating younger generations about patriotism.

On this occasion, Binh Xuan Ward leaders called on officials, Party members, and residents to continue upholding revolutionary traditions, strengthen unity, and work together to build a more prosperous land. They also urged the community to preserve and care for the memorial site and maintain the annual commemorative activities, helping to spread the spirit of remembering our roots.

A representative of residents from Quarter 1 also expressed their respect for the heroic martyrs, affirming their commitment to carrying forward the revolutionary tradition and contributing to the continued development of the land.

The ceremony concluded in a solemn and heartfelt atmosphere, reflecting the close bond between the military and the people, contributing to the preservation and promotion of the locality’s historical and revolutionary values.
