Dialogue on Addressing Challenges for Grassroots Trade Unions in Industrial Parks

(DTO) On the afternoon of July 24, at the hall of Long Jiang Industrial Park Development Co., Ltd. in Tan Phuoc 3 Commune, Dong Thap Province, the Dong Thap Industrial Parks and Economic Zones Trade Union held a dialogue with trade union officials and members working in industrial parks across the province. 

Attending the event were Nguyen Thanh Tuan, Vice President of the Dong Thap Provincial Federation of Labor; Nguyen Thanh Vu, Deputy Head of the Dong Thap Economic Zone Management Authority; Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Chairman of the Dong Thap Industrial Parks and Economic Zones Trade Union; along with representatives of local authorities, businesses, and more than 130 Trade Union officials and members.  

In his opening remarks, Nguyen Thanh Nhan emphasized that the conference provided an opportunity for the Trade Union to listen to the thoughts, aspirations, and practical issues arising from the activities of grassroots Trade Unions, as well as the employment and living conditions of Trade Union members and workers. 

Through the dialogue, participants exchanged ideas and discussed practical, feasible solutions to strengthen coordination among Trade Unions, state management agencies, and businesses in protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers. 

During the conference, the organizing committee recorded 12 opinions and recommendations from Trade Union members and workers regarding their rights and benefits, including social insurance, health insurance, unemployment insurance, wages and bonuses, working conditions, worker housing, the quality of workplace meals, occupational safety and hygiene, material and spiritual well-being, policies for female workers, support for workers affected by technological transformation and the application of artificial intelligence (AI), as well as measures to improve the quality of Trade Union activities within enterprises. 

Representatives of the Dong Thap Economic Zone Management Authority, the Dong Thap Industrial Parks and Economic Zones Trade Union, the People’s Committee of Tan Phuoc 3 Commune, and Long Jiang Industrial Park Development Co., Ltd. directly responded to and clarified issues within their authority. 

For recommendations beyond their authority, the relevant agencies received and compiled the feedback to report to the Dong Thap Provincial Federation of Labor and competent authorities for consideration and resolution, thereby creating favorable conditions for grassroots Trade Unions to operate effectively and fulfill their role in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of Trade Union members and workers. 

The conference served not only as a forum for Trade Union members and workers to voice their concerns and aspirations, but also as a bridge to strengthen cooperation among Trade Unions, state management agencies, and businesses. It also contributed to building harmonious, stable, and progressive labor relations while fostering workers’ trust and long-term commitment to their employers. 

In the coming time, the Dong Thap Industrial Parks and Economic Zones Trade Union will continue coordinating with relevant agencies to organize more dialogue sessions at the grassroots level and proactively monitor the thoughts and concerns of Trade Union members and workers.
