Dong Thap: 12 Communes and Wards Recognized as Safe Zone Communes from Resistance War Periods
(DTO) On January 12, the Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee signed a Decision recognizing 12 communes and wards within Dong Thap Province-following the rearrangement of administrative units-as Safe Zone (An Toan Khu) communes during the resistance wars against the French and the Americans. This recognition serves as a basis for implementing preferential policies in accordance with current regulations.
Specifically, the recognized communes include: Hau My, Thanh Hung, Long Hung, Binh Trung, Long Dinh, Tan Phu Dong, Hung Thanh, Long Tien, Binh Phu, and Tan Phu; along with the wards of My Phong and Dao Thanh.
According to the decision, the aforementioned Safe Zone communes and wards are entitled to preferential policies under current regulations, effective from January 12, 2026.

The recognition of these Safe Zone communes and wards is not only a gesture of historical gratitude to the people of these revolutionary lands during the resistance wars but also contributes to enhancing social security.
Residents living in these areas will be issued health insurance cards and enjoy the highest level of coverage for medical examination and treatment costs under current regulations. Furthermore, these localities will receive support for infrastructure investment and socio-economic development.
