Dong Thap Aims for Full Periodic Health Check-Up Coverage
(DTO) On May 19, the People’s Committee of Dong Thap Province issued a plan for periodic health check-ups and screenings for all residents during 2026-2030, with the overall goal of ensuring access to quality healthcare services and moving toward comprehensive health management.
Starting in 2026, residents will receive at least one free annual health check-up or screening, carried out according to a set schedule. All results will be updated in each person’s electronic health record, enabling lifelong health monitoring and helping reduce medical costs.

By 2030, the province aims for 100% of children under 24 months to receive regular check-ups, screenings, and health monitoring as required. 100% of students at all educational institutions will receive at least one annual health check-up. 100% of workers in agencies, organizations, enterprises, industrial parks, and export processing zones will receive periodic check-ups and occupational disease screenings at least once per year. Those working in strenuous, hazardous, or dangerous jobs, along with other priority groups defined by law, must be examined every six months.
The province also aims to ensure that all remaining groups receive at least one free annual check-up or screening. These include people without labor contracts or not under employer management such as freelancers, small traders, farmers, fishers, homemakers, persons with disabilities, individuals under social protection, and children under 18 who are not attending school. All older adults will also receive periodic check-ups or screenings for early detection of non-communicable diseases.
Every participant will have a health monitoring profile created and updated in their electronic health record after each examination.
In 2026, priority will be given to people with meritorious service, poor and near-poor households, seniors aged 60 and above, persons with disabilities, workers, school students, preschool children, and other vulnerable groups.
During 2027-2030, the program will expand to include university students, freelancers, farmers, fishers, and others not under employer management.
The free annual check-ups or screenings for the designated groups will be carried out in coordination with occupational health examinations, periodic medical check-ups or screenings, school-year health assessments, and medical services covered by health insurance, ensuring free access to healthcare and the completion of electronic health records for all residents.
To effectively implement the plan, the province emphasizes strengthening public communication on the importance of regular health examinations and accelerating digital transformation to build an integrated health management platform connected to the Electronic Health Record system.
