(DTO) On March 13, the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee issued a plan to implement targets for social housing development across the province for the 2026-2030 period, in accordance with Government Resolution No. 7/NQ-CP dated January 2, 2026.

The Tan Huong Social Housing Project is currently being actively implemented.

Under the plan, Dong Thap Province aims to develop around 12,200 social housing units between 2026 and 2030. Of these, about 2,000 units are expected to be built in 2026; 2,500 units in 2027; 2,500 units in 2028; 2,600 units in 2029; and 2,600 units in 2030.

To achieve this goal, the province will focus on communication efforts to raise awareness and strengthen responsibility in social housing development.

At the same time, it will improve the effectiveness of state management and coordination among agencies, organizations, and businesses involved in social housing development. Policies related to social housing will be reviewed, supplemented, and refined, while funding sources for social housing projects will be mobilized and used more efficiently.

The province has also requested departments, sectors, and localities to strengthen dissemination of the Government’s Resolution No. 7/NQ-CP as well as the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws on social housing through various forms. Assigned tasks under the plan must be proactively implemented to ensure progress, quality, and efficiency.

Administrative procedures will also be further reformed, with social housing projects placed in “green lane” and “priority lane” categories to accelerate their implementation.

In recent years, Dong Thap has implemented multiple solutions to promote social housing development, gradually meeting residents’ housing needs, especially for low-income groups and workers.

By the end of 2025, the province had completed 1,143 social housing units eligible for sale or lease in accordance with regulations. Currently, investors have been publicly invited and selected for four social housing projects with a total scale of 1,345 units, which are expected to break ground in the first quarter of 2026.

In addition, 11 other social housing projects with nearly 5,200 units are being implemented across the province, while procedures are underway to invite investment in three more projects with nearly 1,700 units.

Recently, on March 11, the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee issued a decision approving the investment policy and assigning the investor to implement the Binh Thanh 1 Social Housing Project in accordance with legal regulations on special mechanisms and policies for social housing development. The investor is Hung Ca Co., Ltd.

The project will cover about 9.93 hectares of land. It will include around 816 housing units with a planned population of approximately 3,264 people, comprising 100 row houses, 138 units in high-rise apartment buildings, and about 578 units in low-rise apartment buildings.

The preliminary total investment is estimated at more than 969 billion VND. Compensation and resettlement support are expected to take place from the first quarter of 2026 to the first quarter of 2027, while project implementation is scheduled from the second quarter of 2027 to the second quarter of 2029.
