(DTO) On October 6, a delegation from Dong Thap Province, led by Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Dao, Director of the Department of Home Affairs, visited Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, for a working session and to sign a cooperation agreement on recruiting seasonal workers for the 2027 agricultural season.

Overview of the working session and signing of the seasonal worker recruitment cooperation agreement between Dong Thap Province and Icheon City.

The delegation included representatives from the Labor and Employment Division under the Department of Home Affairs, the Office of the Provincial People’s Committee, and the Dong Thap Employment Service Center. Icheon City was represented by Mr. Seong Su Suk, Mayor; Ms. Lee Kyung Hwa, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center; and Mr. Hong Kyeong Nam, Head of the Agricultural Policy Division.

Previously, Icheon officials had visited Dong Thap, met directly with local workers and expressed their appreciation for their sense of responsibility, diligence and willingness to learn.

These qualities are among the factors Icheon considers when recruiting seasonal workers, particularly for agricultural work, which requires discipline and the ability to adapt to a new working environment.

Representatives of the two localities pose for a commemorative photo after signing the cooperation agreement on seasonal worker recruitment for the 2027 season.

Building on their practical exchanges, the two sides agreed on a coordination mechanism for seasonal worker recruitment. The agreement provides a basis for Dong Thap and Icheon to work together to recruit workers for agricultural production in Icheon during the 2027 agricultural season, while opening up an additional employment channel in South Korea for workers from Dong Thap.

Under the cooperation mechanism, the two sides will discuss and agree on recruitment needs, working conditions, selection procedures, and workers’ rights and benefits. Recruitment through relevant management agencies and specialized units will help ensure transparent information and enable workers to prepare proactively before taking up employment abroad.

Cooperation with Icheon will help diversify Dong Thap’s overseas labor markets, with a focus on matching labor supply with actual demand, ensuring transparent information, safeguarding workers’ safety and rights, and establishing a stable foundation for long-term cooperation between the two localities.
