Dong Thap Attracts Visitors During National Day Holiday

(DTO) During this year’s National Day holiday, tourist attractions across Dong Thap Province have welcomed large numbers of visitors. From experiences of the flood season to orchard-based ecotourism and coastal tourism, the province offers visitors a variety of memorable experiences. 
 

This year’s National Day holiday also coincides with the start of the flood season in Dong Thap. Taking advantage of the natural conditions, farmers in upstream areas have developed immersive tourism models featuring the distinctive culture of southern Vietnam. One example is the Flood Season Tourism Site in Hamlet 2, Thuong Phuoc Commune. The model is jointly operated by the hamlet authorities, local organizations and households. 

Tran Van Binh, Secretary of the Party Cell of Hamlet 2, Thuong Phuoc Commune, said: “Visitors can immerse themselves in the livelihoods of local people during the flood season. They can experience rowing boats, bathing in the flooded fields, casting nets, setting fish traps, picking sesbania flowers and enjoying local countryside dishes.” 

During the first days of the holiday, many tourist attractions in Sa Dec Flower Village, Sa Dec Ward, have welcomed large numbers of visitors. 

At Tu Ton Rose Garden Tourist Area in Sa Dec Ward, newly introduced services such as fishing, flower-viewing experiences and a pond area offer visitors more choices during the holiday. 

Duong My Nguyen Hao, a representative of Tu Ton Rose Garden Tourist Area, said: “The flowers are in full bloom at this time, making it ideal for sightseeing and taking photos.” 

At the Mientay Lodge Ecotourism Area in Tan Duong Commune, owner Doan Huu Nhieu said: “During this holiday, we have introduced new activities, including hands-on farming experiences, grape picking and grape tasting. These activities also help visitors connect with the local community and gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the people and land of Dong Thap.” 

In Cao Lanh Ward, the Nguyen Sinh Sac Historical Site welcomed many visitors from near and far during the first three days of the holiday. The site’s management board coordinated with relevant units to organize exhibitions featuring photographs, documents and artifacts under themes such as “Activities of Nguyen Sinh Sac in Old Hoa An Village” and “Dong Thap - My Hometown.” Other attractions include a calligraphy exhibition, collections of antiques, and a model depicting Dong Thap during the flood season. The recreation of old Hoa An Village is this year’s highlight, drawing large numbers of visitors. 

At Dong Tam Snake Farm in Kim Son Commune, Dong Thap Province, the attraction has been bustling with visitors since the start of the holiday. Many families have chosen it as a stop to learn about snakes, other wildlife, and the farm’s research and conservation work. For children, the visit is not only entertaining but also a chance to observe and explore the natural world firsthand.

Nguyen Gia Bao, 11, from Vinh Long Province, shared excitedly: “I’ve seen many kinds of snakes here that I had only seen in books or on TV before. My favorite part was seeing real snakes and learning about each species from the staff. There are also lots of animals I like, such as horses, ostriches, and capybaras. I really enjoyed this trip and hope my parents bring me back again.” 

The holiday atmosphere has also been vibrant at Thoi Son Island in Thoi Son Ward. Groups of visitors from both inside and outside the province have come to enjoy the orchard landscape, take boat rides through narrow canals, visit fruit orchards, and try specialties from the Mekong Delta. 

According to local tourism operators, tourist sites across the province have welcomed more than 8,000 visitors since the start of the holiday. Tran Thanh Son, owner of the Ky Lan Honey Tea Tourist Site, said: “This year’s holiday is longer, so visitor numbers have been quite high, and local people are very pleased. Before the holiday, we upgraded facilities, arranged additional staff, and prepared for the increase in visitors. We’ve also improved our services so visitors can have the best experience when they come to Dong Thap.” 

In the eastern part of the province, coastal tourism has been a major highlight. During the holiday, large numbers of visitors have traveled to Tan Thanh Beach Tourist Area. Hands-on clam raking experiences and the eateries lining the Go Cong sea dike have also attracted crowds of holidaymakers.
