Dong Thap Breaks Ground on Official Housing Project

(DTO) On the morning of August 12, the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Provincial Official Housing Project in Trung An Ward.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Pham Thanh Ngai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Pham Van Chuan, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Tran Thanh Nguyen, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Dinh Van Dung, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap Province; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; alongside leaders of provincial departments, sectors, and localities.

The project occupies a site covering approximately 8,267 sq.m, featuring a construction footprint of over 4,598 sq.m, 1,286 sq.m for green space, and more than 2,382 sq.m allocated for roads, yards, and internal traffic facilities.

The development involves the construction of an official housing complex with a construction area of more than 3,675 sq.m and a total floor area of approximately 31,045 sq.m, comprising one basement, eight above-ground floors, and a rooftop technical structure. The project will provide 285 apartments, including 155 units with a floor area of more than 70 sq.m and 130 units under 60 sq.m. Concurrently, the provincial budget will fund technical infrastructure and supporting facilities, including site leveling, gates, fences, a guardhouse, parking facilities, internal roads, and landscaping.

The project represents a total investment of approximately VND 418 billion, funded by the provincial budget. Within this, the construction and equipment installation package is valued at more than VND 393.6 billion, with an implementation period of 360 days. The Dong Thap Official Housing Joint Venture secured the contract as the winning bidder.

At the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong, Director of the Dong Thap Provincial Management Board of Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Projects, said the investor and relevant agencies are determined to complete the project approximately one month ahead of schedule.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman Pham Thanh Ngai emphasized that the construction of official housing aims to provide stable accommodation for cadres, enabling them to focus entirely on their duties. The project will not only serve officials transferred from the pre-merger Dong Thap Province but also create a housing fund to accommodate personnel rotated or reassigned to Dong Thap in the future.

In the long term, the area will be developed into a concentrated residential complex, including union-backed housing, social housing, and related facilities. This will help create a modern and integrated residential area, providing cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers with stable, long-term accommodation.

To ensure that the project is completed on schedule and meets quality requirements, Chairman Pham Thanh Ngai requested the investor and construction contractor to remain fully committed to fulfilling their commitments.

He stressed that although the construction period must be shortened, the ultimate priority remains uncompromised project quality. All functions of the facility must be fully ensured; construction materials must conform to the specified types and approved designs; and the construction process must be subject to strict inspection and supervision.

The supervisory unit and investor must strictly fulfill their responsibilities. All relevant units must closely monitor every stage of implementation, ensuring both progress and quality in accordance with the set requirements. Local authorities must closely coordinate throughout the project implementation process.

For its part, the Provincial People's Committee, as Chairman Pham Thanh Ngai pledged, will maintain continuous attention, direction, and monitoring over the project's implementation. Any difficulties or problems that arise must be promptly reported for timely consideration and resolution.
