Dong Thap Cooperative Wins “Innovative Cooperative Challenge” Award

(DTO) On August 24, the Dong Thap Cooperative Alliance said a local cooperative had won an “Innovative Cooperative Challenge” award organized by the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance. 
 

Accordingly, on the afternoon of August 24, the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance held an award ceremony for the “Innovative Cooperative Challenge” contest, which aims to identify, honor and promote outstanding cooperative models nationwide. The contest was part of the project “Strengthening Action to Develop an Innovation Ecosystem for Vietnam’s Cooperative Sector,” with funding and support from the Sustainable Food Systems Ireland (SFSI) and UN Women. 

A total of 13 cooperatives nationwide were honored at the ceremony, including My Long Agricultural Service Cooperative in My Hiep Commune, Dong Thap Province. 

My Long Agricultural Service Cooperative specializes in growing and supplying agricultural products, particularly seedless limes. In 2021, its seedless lime product was awarded a three-star OCOP rating. The cooperative now has about 210 members cultivating 60 hectares. 

The cooperative currently produces seedless limes to GlobalGAP standards as raw material for a company exporting to European markets. Since 2020, the two sides have maintained a stable supply partnership through long-term contracts, with a guaranteed purchase price of at least 8,000 VND per kilogram. 

Recently, My Long Agricultural Service Cooperative invested in green transformation through its Closed-Loop My Long Seedless Lime Production Project. In addition to supplying fresh limes for export, Grade 2 and Grade 3 limes are processed into products such as honey lime juice, lime soap, fermented lime peel and organic fertilizer made from lime peel residue. Its concentrated honey lime juice has received a four-star OCOP rating.
