Dong Thap: First Fruit Festival Expected in Early June
(DTO) According to Nguyen Thi My Hung, Head of the Sub-Department of Rural Development under the Dong Thap Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, the 1st Dong Thap Fruit Festival is expected to take place over four days, from June 5 to June 8, 2026.

The festival aims to honor specialty fruits of Dong Thap, the Mekong Delta, and across Vietnam, while boosting promotion, marketing, and consumption in both domestic and export markets. It contributes positively to the socio-economic development of Dong Thap and other localities in the Mekong Delta and nationwide. The Provincial People’s Committee has directed the Dong Thap Department of Agriculture and Environment to advise and develop the plan for organizing the 1st Fruit Festival, themed “Dong Thap - The Land of Sweet Fruits.”
At present, the Department has submitted a draft plan to the Provincial People’s Committee. The Provincial People’s Committee is reviewing the draft plan in order to report it to the Party Committee of the People’s Committee for feedback, before submitting it to the Standing Board and Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee for guidance and approval to proceed.
Regarding the venue, the Provincial People’s Committee is considering the most suitable option between Hung Vuong Square (Hung Vuong Street, Dao Thanh Ward) and Lac Hong Park (April 30 Street, My Tho Ward).

A highlight of the festival will be the harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, with more than 20 distinctive activities. The festival will vividly recreate riverine culture through a floating market themed “On the Mekong River,” the “Mekong Delicacies” food zone, and the “Fruit Maze” experiential area. It will also feature exhibitions showcasing the value chains of key fruit products and promoting Dong Thap tourism.
In addition, high-quality artistic programs will be held, including a water music, light, and mapping show titled “Listening to the River’s Stories;” fruit-based installation art contests under the theme “Dong Thap - The Sweetness of Alluvium, the Richness of the Land;” a tribute space honoring veteran orchardists titled “Honoring the Years of the Trees and Fruits;” and a photo exhibition “Beauty of the Riverine Region.”
Alongside experiential activities, the festival will emphasize trade connectivity and sustainable agricultural development through events such as a seminar on building brands for key agricultural products, a “Specialty Fruit Week” across modern distribution systems and e-commerce platforms, and livestream programs promoting and selling fruits and fruit-based products.
Through this inaugural festival, Dong Thap aims to create a breakthrough in positioning its agricultural brand, strengthen value chain linkages, and foster the robust development of local agricultural tourism.
