Dong Thap: Investment and Planning Options Reviewed for Parks, Residential Areas and Markets
(DTO) On November 5, Vice Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Dieu held a meeting with relevant departments, agencies and units to discuss the overall adjustment of the 1/500 detailed construction plan for Trung An Residential Area (Trung An Ward); the Green Park project on the former Tien Giang General Hospital site; and the investment project for markets across Dong Thap Province, including Vam Lang Market.

The meeting reviewed and discussed several investment projects in the province, with participants focusing on investment and planning options, technical infrastructure, funding sources and implementation schedules. They agreed that relevant matters must continue to be reviewed and finalized to ensure consistency, effectiveness and compliance with regulations.
Regarding the Green Park project on the former Tien Giang General Hospital site, a proposal was made to rename it My Tho Park. Discussions focused on the overall design, the layout of green spaces, public facilities and technical infrastructure.
Participants also discussed management and operation plans after the park is completed, as well as the potential application of smart technologies, surveillance camera systems and connectivity infrastructure to improve management and the effective use of the park.
The meeting also reviewed the overall adjustment of the 1/500 detailed construction plan for Trung An Residential Area. Key topics included traffic connectivity, road construction, technical infrastructure and connections with surrounding areas.
The project is intended to ensure coordinated infrastructure development, meet travel needs, support the operations of agencies and units, and facilitate the development of the residential area.

Notably, the meeting also considered the investment for the construction of a new Vam Lang Market, designed to meet Grade 2 market standards, on the site of the former Vam Lang Fishing Port. The project aims to develop a coordinated commercial infrastructure system in line with the socio-economic development orientation of the newly established Gia Thuan Commune following the administrative merger.
Concluding the discussions, Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Dieu requested relevant agencies and units to continue working with the consulting firm to review and finalize the design plans, project scale, total investment and technical requirements for each project. Particular attention must be paid to clarifying cost estimates, funding arrangements, responsibilities for managing and operating the facilities after investment, and matters related to planning and land use.
He also requested the assigned units to promptly complete the necessary documents and submit them to the competent authorities for consideration and approval before proceeding with the next steps. They were also asked to proactively coordinate in resolving difficulties and obstacles to ensure implementation progress and investment efficiency.
