Dong Thap Mobilizes Resources to Drive Business Growth
(DTO) The business community has made significant contributions to Dong Thap Province’s socio-economic development in recent years. Building on these achievements, the province continues to improve its investment and business environment, focus on resolving difficulties, and create favorable conditions for businesses to expand production and business activities, enhance competitiveness, and contribute to rapid and sustainable growth.
POSITIVE RESULTS
In recent years, Dong Thap has made sustained efforts to improve its investment and business environment and support businesses throughout their operations and development. From attracting new investment projects to addressing practical obstacles, the province’s support measures have gradually proven effective, helping generate momentum for production and business activities.

Long Giang Industrial Park in Tan Phuoc 3 Commune is a bright spot in investment attraction, making major contributions to the province’s industrial production and export value. According to Mr. Weng Ming Zhao, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Long Giang Industrial Park Development Co., Ltd., the park covers 540 hectares, of which 346.73 hectares have been leased, bringing the occupancy rate to 87.9%. It has attracted 64 investment projects with total registered capital exceeding VND59.518 trillion.
Of these, 61 are foreign direct investment (FDI) projects and three are domestic direct investment (DDI) projects. The park currently hosts 63 operating businesses in key sectors, including metal manufacturing, rubber and plastic products, electronics, and food processing, providing jobs for approximately 35,800 workers.

In the first nine months of 2026, businesses in Long Giang Industrial Park maintained stable operations and recorded positive growth. Industrial production value reached approximately US$3.3 billion, up around 16% year on year, while export value totaled approximately US$2.979 billion, an increase of 14.94%.
WHAT DO BUSINESSES NEED? Mr. Vo Phu Duc, Director of Vinh Hoan Collagen One Member Co., Ltd. in My Ngai Ward, said business development requires close cooperation and mutual support among businesses, as well as between businesses and local authorities. This would enable businesses to grow further and achieve greater sustainability. The business community does not necessarily need more mechanisms, policies, or forms of support. More importantly, it needs clearer development orientations and roadmaps, along with faster issuance and implementation of decisions by local authorities. This would help businesses plan their production and business activities proactively, seize opportunities, and achieve better growth in the future. |
Alongside attracting large-scale projects, promptly resolving difficulties faced by existing businesses is also essential to strengthening investor confidence and facilitating the expansion of production and business activities.
NINATHAI Joint Stock Company in Tan Phuoc 1 Commune is among the businesses that have recently invested in and put into operation an organic fertilizer manufacturing plant. The plant began operations in February 2026, with total investment of approximately VND60 billion.
Ms. Bui Thi Hang Ni, General Director of NINATHAI Joint Stock Company, said provincial leaders had provided support and favorable conditions to help the company address difficulties in its operations. Notably, regarding an issue involving the method of land rental payment, the province had helped the company find a solution in accordance with amended legal regulations, resolving one of the major bottlenecks affecting its investment, production, and business activities.
Drawing on the company’s practical experience, Ms. Bui Thi Hang Ni also proposed that the province consider decentralizing procedures for registering assets attached to land in a manner suited to business size. For small and medium-sized enterprises with relatively small factory facilities, the authority to handle such procedures could be assigned to commune- or ward-level authorities or regional land registration offices. Appropriate decentralization would help reduce the time and costs associated with administrative procedures, making it easier for businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, to complete legal documentation for their assets.

According to Standing Vice Chairman Tran Van Dung, the province’s socio-economic development maintained positive momentum in the first nine months of 2026. The industrial production index rose by more than 13%, export turnover reached nearly US$7.6 billion, and total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue increased by nearly 15%.
Notably, approximately 2,410 new businesses were established across the province, up more than 18% year on year. The province also attracted 17 new investment projects with total registered capital of nearly VND8.7 trillion. These results reflect positive changes in the provincial economy and affirm the increasingly important role and contributions of the business community and private sector to overall development.
CONTINUED SUPPORT FOR BUSINESSES
According to Standing Vice Chairman Tran Van Dung, as Dong Thap pursues rapid and sustainable growth, with the goal of achieving double-digit growth during the 2026–2030 period, the business community’s role is particularly important.
YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS NEED TO RENEW THEIR THINKING Mr. Dang Hong Anh, Chairman of the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association, said Dong Thap has significant opportunities for its business community, particularly young entrepreneurs, to grow in the coming period. To capitalize on these opportunities, young entrepreneurs in Dong Thap need to continue renewing their thinking and broadening their horizons, looking beyond the local market to regional and international markets. Businesses should proactively participate in associations, strengthen connections, and seek information from business organizations and local authorities to understand market demand and identify new business solutions. At the same time, they should strengthen value-chain linkages to meet the requirements of major partners. In addition, each business needs to enhance its competitiveness by improving management capacity, ensuring information transparency, and accelerating digital and green transformation. Businesses should also actively participate in training programs, seminars, conferences, investment promotion, and trade promotion activities to expand their networks, seek partners, and develop markets, gradually integrating their products and services more deeply into domestic and international value chains. |
To achieve this target, the province must not only expand the scale of its economy but also improve the quality of growth, promote deeper processing, and increase product value, while making science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation key drivers of development. Creating a favorable environment for the business community and private sector to grow in number, quality, scale, and operational efficiency is therefore especially important.
Standing Vice Chairman Tran Van Dung said Dong Thap aims to have 35,000 active businesses by 2030, with the private sector contributing 55%–58% of the province’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP). To achieve these goals, the province will focus on substantively improving the investment and business environment and the quality of services provided to businesses. All reported difficulties and obstacles must be clearly classified, with the lead agency, coordinating agencies, and resolution deadlines specifically identified.
The province will continue improving indicators related to the business environment, administrative reform, and competitiveness. More importantly, the ultimate measure of success must be how much easier businesses find it in practice to complete procedures and implement investment, production, and business activities.
At the same time, the province will ensure transparent disclosure of information and enable businesses to proactively access development opportunities and resources. A key solution is to focus on resolving difficulties affecting investment projects and production and business operations.
The province will also mobilize and effectively use resources to support business development. In addition to state budget funding, it will step up efforts to mobilize and connect resources from the central government and society. It will also coordinate with credit institutions through bank-business connectivity programs, as well as work with business associations, training institutions, and consulting organizations to help businesses access capital, adopt new technologies, pursue digital transformation, train personnel, promote trade, and expand markets.
Standing Vice Chairman Tran Van Dung added that the province would develop sound plans to shape new development spaces. Cooperation between the provincial authorities and businesses would provide a foundation for mobilizing and harnessing resources to promote the province’s growth and development.
Dong Thap needs to turn its production advantages into value-chain advantages through cooperation between public and private resources. The province will prioritize public investment to develop infrastructure in a coordinated manner, including economic and technical infrastructure, particularly information technology infrastructure.
Businesses in the province should also strengthen cooperation to build value chains linking agricultural production, industry, trade, and services, thereby increasing the added value of the province’s goods and services.
