Dong Thap Police Launch Peak Campaign to Combat Crime
(DTO) On December 12, the Dong Thap Provincial Police Department held a ceremony to launch a peak campaign to combat crime and legal violations, ensuring security and order for the 14th National Party Congress, the 2026 Lunar New Year, and the elections of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
Attending the ceremony and giving directives was Comrade Pham Thanh Ngai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee. The event was chaired by Major General Lam Phuoc Nguyen, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Director of the Provincial Police Department.

The ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Provincial Police Department in My Phong Ward and connected online to 102 commune and ward police stations across the province.
The peak campaign will run from December 15, 2025 to March 16, 2026. During this period, provincial-level and commune-level police units will implement synchronized professional measures, grasp the situation, manage routes, areas, and targets, and strengthen the detection and effective suppression of crimes and legal violations.

Key priorities include intensifying the fight against theft and snatch-and-run crimes; effectively addressing groups of youths disturbing public order or using weapons to settle disputes; working with functional forces to strictly control routes and areas to promptly detect and arrest drug dealers and transporters; strengthening the management of drug addicts, illegal drug users, and post-rehabilitation individuals; and stepping up inspections to strictly handle violations related to economic crimes, natural resources, and the environment. In traffic safety, the police will strictly handle violations involving alcohol concentration, drug use, overloading, and illegal street racing, etc. with the spirit of “no restricted zones, no exceptions”.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Pham Thanh Ngai requested the entire provincial police force to continue promoting its core role, intensively implementing professional measures, proactively combating all types of crime, and mobilizing the combined strength of the political system and the public to participate in crime prevention, reporting, and combating social evils and legal violations. This will help ensure the peak campaign is effective and security and order are maintained across the province.

Major General Lam Phuoc Nguyen acknowledged the directives and instructed all officers and soldiers to uphold solidarity, responsibility, and decisive action; strive to fulfill assigned tasks better and more comprehensively; meet or exceed all set targets; implement coordinated measures to firmly grasp the situation early, from afar, and at the grassroots level; proactively analyze, identify, and accurately predict developments, individuals, and issues related to political security in each area and sector to timely advise suitable measures to prevent and effectively combat crime, ensuring security and order; avoid passivity or surprises in any situation; strengthen coordination in border security efforts; and effectively support operations to combat crime across the province.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, the police force marched through several streets in the provincial administrative center. At commune and ward police stations, units simultaneously initiated their operations to combat crime and legal violations, ensuring security and order for the 14th National Party Congress, the 2026 Lunar New Year, and the elections of the National Assembly and People’s Councils for the 2026-2031 term.
