Dong Thap Promotes Scientific Research and Innovation for Sustainable Healthcare Development
(DTO) On September 25, the Dong Thap Provincial Department of Health and Dong Thap General Hospital (located in My Ngai Ward) jointly hosted the 2nd Expanded Scientific and Technical Conference of the Dong Thap Health Sector 2026 under the theme “Connection – Integration – Development.”
The event brought together leading medical experts from research institutes and universities, health sector leaders from various provinces and cities, alongside a large gathering of scientists and healthcare professionals from across the region.
The conference served as a premier forum to review the past year's scientific research and clinical applications within the provincial health sector. It also provided an opportunity for doctors and medical staff to share practical insights and seek breakthrough solutions toward building a modern, effective, and humane healthcare system.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Nguyen Van Duong emphasized that amid shifting epidemiological patterns and growing public healthcare demands, scientific research has become the core catalyst for the sustainability of the entire healthcare system.
Accelerating research and clinical adoptions of advanced techniques helps enhance diagnostic and treatment capabilities, lowers upper-level referral rates, and reduces costs for both patients and society. Concurrently, it enables medical teams to master modern clinical approaches and cultivate critical thinking in the new era.
This year’s conference demonstrated high academic and professional caliber, featuring three review presentations at the Plenary Session and 32 high-quality scientific papers selected from 93 submissions. The presentations were organized into four practical concurrent sessions: Surgery – Obstetrics – Anesthesiology and Resuscitation; Internal Medicine – Pediatrics – Infectious Diseases; Nursing – Pharmacy; and Health Organization – Public Health – Preventive Medicine.
The diversity of topics provided a comprehensive perspective, covering preventive medicine, healthcare management, nursing care, and specialized clinical treatment techniques—marking a pivotal step forward for the Dong Thap health sector on its path toward integration and development.
