Dong Thap Proposes 242 Billion VND to Upgrade 28 Residential Clusters
(DTO) The Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee has sent a report to the Ministry of Construction reviewing the implementation of the program to build residential clusters, routes, and housing in flood-prone areas of the Mekong Delta.

According to the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee, during the implementation of Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the program to build residential clusters and routes in flood-prone areas, the province developed numerous sites to relocate residents from dangerous areas, helping them settle safely and gradually stabilize their livelihoods.
However, earlier investments in technical infrastructure (such as roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems) were not fully synchronized. Over time, many facilities have deteriorated, no longer functioning effectively and leading to environmental pollution, which has affected the daily lives of local households.
In response, Dong Thap Province has proactively allocated local budget funds to repair and upgrade technical infrastructure at several residential clusters and routes. To date, 25 clusters and routes have been upgraded. However, due to limited local budget resources, the investment has yet to meet actual needs, while the province currently has 263 residential clusters and routes under the program.
To improve the effectiveness of the program, resolve outstanding issues, and prevent the waste of state resources, the Provincial People’s Committee has proposed that the central government consider providing funding to complete the technical infrastructure (roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, etc.) at 28 residential clusters and routes, with an estimated total cost of about 242 billion VND.
