Dong Thap Rearranges College Leadership Following Institutional Mergers

(DTO) On the afternoon of September 15, the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee convened a conference to announce structural reorganizations and personnel appointments for Dong Thap College and Tien Giang College.

The event was attended by Ms. Huynh Thi Hoai Thu, member of the Provincial Party Committee and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan, member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; alongside officials representing provincial departments and agencies, and representatives from both colleges.

Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan and Ms. Huynh Thi Hoai Thu hand over the merger decisions to the Boards of Rectors of Dong Thap College and Tien Giang College.

At the conference, leaders of the Provincial Department of Home Affairs delivered the decisions from the Ministry of Education and Training regarding the merger of Thanh Binh Intermediate School, Hong Ngu Intermediate School, and Thap Muoi Intermediate School into Dong Thap Community College, which is now renamed Dong Thap College. Concurrently, decisions were announced on consolidating Cai Be Technical and Vocational Intermediate School, Cai Lay Intermediate School, and Go Cong Intermediate School into Tien Giang College.

The event also saw the announcement of decisions issued by the Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee appointing the Rectors and Vice Rectors for both institutions.

At the conference, Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan and Ms. Huynh Thi Hoai Thu handed over the institutional integration decisions and finalized the leadership structures for the two colleges.

Accordingly, Mr. Pham Quang Huy was named Rector of Dong Thap College, and Mr. Nguyen Quang Khai assumed the role of Rector of Tien Giang College, alongside the presentation of credentials to the new Vice Rectors. The leadership teams will serve a five-year term, effective September 15, 2026.

Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan and Ms. Huynh Thi Hoai Thu, together with leaders of the Department of Home Affairs and the Department of Education and Training, present congratulatory flowers to the Boards of Rectors of Dong Thap College and Tien Giang College.

In their inaugural addresses, the leadership boards of both colleges acknowledged that the post-merger reorganization expands their operational scale and development horizons, unlocking fresh opportunities while demanding rigorous governance and enhanced training quality. Both institutions pledged to capitalize on individual institutional strengths, accelerate digital transformation, and forge tighter alignments with enterprises and the job market.

Addressing the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Huynh Minh Tuan congratulated the newly consolidated Boards of Rectors, urging them to cultivate internal solidarity, swiftly stabilize operations, and drive academic excellence.

Aligning with the province’s strategic mandate to upgrade human resource quality-particularly high-caliber labor-the colleges must proactively decode enterprise demands to tailor their curricula, thereby fueling the province's socio-economic growth.
