Dong Thap Reviews Proposed Investments in Marine Economy Projects
(DTO) On October 22, Vice Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Dieu met with Dong Duong Group Co., Ltd. to discuss proposed investments in the province’s coastal areas.

At the meeting, the company presented its vision for developing an integrated marine economic ecosystem encompassing seaports, logistics, green industry, high-tech agriculture and aquaculture, fisheries services, digital infrastructure, and smart coastal urban areas. Clean electricity, clean water and digital infrastructure were identified as the foundations for this development.
The proposed investment study would cover Gia Thuan, Tan Dien, Go Cong Dong and Tan Phu Dong communes, with planned functional zones including a 200-hectare seaport, a 450-hectare industrial park, a 450-hectare coastal urban area, 2,200 hectares for combined solar power generation and aquaculture, a 300-hectare fishing port and fisheries logistics complex, and 100 hectares for ecotourism.
The company also proposed building a data center and oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage facilities on 100 hectares, alongside a wind power development stretching approximately 50 kilometers along the coastline.
Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Dieu welcomed the company’s interest and outlined the province’s development orientations for transport, electricity and water infrastructure, as well as its coastal economic zones. The province will review the proposals and consider adjustments to planning where necessary to ensure consistency with its overall development strategy. The Go Cong area is oriented toward urban development, stronger connectivity, and attracting tourists and investors.
The Vice Chairman stressed that investment studies must demonstrate feasibility, with clearly defined project scales, implementation phases, resources and timelines. Scattered investment that could create conflicts involving landscapes, the environment or competing project interests must be avoided. Investors must demonstrate their capacity and make specific commitments for each project component.
Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Dieu assigned the Department of Finance to lead the review of the company’s proposals in coordination with relevant departments and agencies, ensuring consistency with provincial planning and the province’s marine economic development orientations through 2030. This review must also ensure integrated development across the coastal area stretching from the Soai Rap River estuary to the Cua Dai River, combining ports, industrial parks, urban areas, trade and services, tourism, and aquaculture.
