Dong Thap’s Inaugural Fruit Festival to Feature Diverse, Unique Activities

(DTO) On the afternoon of May 18, Mr. Pham Thanh Ngai, Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee, alongside Mr. Tran Van Dung, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee, and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu, Vice Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee, chaired a working session with relevant departments and agencies to review detailed preparations for the 1st Dong Thap Fruit Festival 2026 (hereinafter referred to as the Festival).

Overview of the working session.

The four-day event, themed “Dong Thap – Land of Sweet Fruits,” will run from June 5 to June 8, 2026. The provincial-scale festival will take place at Hung Vuong Square in Dao Thanh Ward.

Key activities will include the opening ceremony; exhibition spaces showcasing the value chain of Dong Thap's fruit sector; displays introducing Dong Thap tourism products; trade fairs and exhibitions promoting fruits, fruit-based products, OCOP products and specialties from the Mekong Delta region; a seminar on "Farmers 4.0 and Organized Raw Material Areas"; a conference on developing value chains for the province’s key fruit products; a workshop on building and developing brands for major agricultural products; and the "Listen to the River's Tales" artistic water music, laser lighting, and 3D mapping performance.

The festival will also feature a wide range of celebratory activities, including the photo exhibition “The Beauty of the River Region”; an interactive space titled “Determining the Age of Trees and Fruits” to honor orchard owners with long-standing trees; a fruit arrangement art competition themed “Dong Thap – Sweet Alluvial Flavors, Deep Earthly Love”; a culinary contest and exhibition introducing delicious dishes made from Dong Thap fruits under the theme “Flavors of the Pink Lotus Land”; the “Mekong Orchard Charms” pageant; the Dong Thap Youth Festival promoting the value of local fruits; specialty fruit promotion weeks at modern distribution systems and e-commerce platforms nationwide; the “Mekong Delicacies” culinary space; response activities across various communes and wards; green and agricultural tourism experience famtrips; and the "Fruit Run" community fun run featuring fruit-inspired costumes and designs. The opening ceremony will be broadcast live from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM on June 5, while the closing ceremony is scheduled for 7:00 PM on June 8.

The event aims to honor specialty fruits from Dong Thap, the Mekong Delta region, and the country as a whole. It serves as an opportunity for the province to boost the promotion, introduction, and market consumption of specialty fruits in both domestic and export markets.

At the meeting, after listening to reports from various units, Chairman Pham Thanh Ngai requested departments and sectors to closely adhere to their assigned tasks to ensure successful execution. Officials in charge of sponsor mobilization were instructed to keep close track of the sponsor list to secure funding, while the vice chairmen of the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee were asked to review the event's guest list.
