Dong Thap Steps up Implementation of Politburo’s Resolution No. 71 on Breakthrough Development of Education and Training
(DTO) On the afternoon of August 18, Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee Vice Chairman Huynh Minh Tuan, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Breakthrough Development of Education and Training, chaired a meeting to assess the implementation of Politburo Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthrough development of education and training. The meeting was attended by representatives of provincial departments, sectors, and relevant entities.
In recent times, the province has issued plans to implement Resolution No. 71, gradually establishing a task framework, identifying lead and coordinating agencies, and laying out execution roadmaps. Communication and dissemination of the resolution have been carried out among provincial departments, agencies, localities and educational institutions.
The quality of education has continued to improve. The pass rate in the 2026 high school graduation examination reached 99.08%; the province’s average score across all examination subjects ranked 12th nationwide and topped the Mekong Delta. Dong Thap students won 78 prizes at the national excellent student competition, along with four prizes at the national science and engineering competition. All 102 communes and wards in the province achieved Level 3 universal primary education standards, while 97 out of 102 communes and wards achieved Level 3 universal lower secondary education standards.
In digital transformation, 100% of educational institutions have secured Internet connectivity and update data on the sectoral database, while all general education institutions have implemented digital academic records. A total of 21,618 teachers have received training in digital competencies, and 6,812 education managers and teachers have been trained in digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Huynh Minh Tuan asked the provincial Department of Education and Training to continue finalizing its report, updating data and specifying tasks, solutions and implementation roadmaps to ensure close alignment with resolutions, programs and plans of the central and provincial authorities.
He also called for a review and appropriate assignment of tasks to members of the Steering Committee, along with stronger field monitoring and closer attention to developments at the grassroots level so as to promptly coordinate in addressing bottlenecks arising during implementation.
Vice Chairman Huynh Minh Tuan also urged the sector to proactively study and assess issues related to the restructuring of school and educational institution networks, human resource development, STEM education, foreign languages and the building of national-standard schools. At the same time, he called for thorough preparations for the new academic year to ensure that educational activities are carried out smoothly and tailored to practical conditions.
