Dong Thap Strengthens Tourism Management

(DTO) The Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee has asked provincial departments, agencies, and commune- and ward-level People’s Committees to strengthen state management of tourism, ensuring that tourism activities across the province develop safely, professionally, with high quality and sustainability. 

According to the Provincial People’s Committee, Dong Thap’s tourism sector has made positive progress. Greater attention has been paid to infrastructure, tourism products, service quality, destination promotion and the province’s tourism image, helping attract visitors and promote socio-economic development. 

The Provincial People’s Committee assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to take the lead, in coordination with relevant agencies, localities and the province’s Tourism Association, in strengthening management, communication and dissemination of tourism-related laws, guiding tourism service providers to improve the quality of their products and services, uphold business ethics, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of visitors. 

At the same time, inspections will be stepped up to ensure compliance with regulations governing travel services, accommodation, service establishments, and tourism sites and attractions. Particular attention will be paid to business requirements, price listing and compliance with listed prices, food safety, fire prevention and fighting, environmental protection, and civilized tourism practices. Practices such as soliciting customers, price gouging, commercial fraud and other violations must be promptly addressed and strictly handled. 

Commune- and ward-level People’s Committees have been asked to proactively monitor the situation and coordinate inspections and corrective measures when issues arise, while ensuring environmental sanitation, public security and safety at tourist attractions and tourism service establishments.
