Dong Thap Student Nguyen Ngoc Tran Receives Full ‘Tinh Hoa Khoa Hoc’ Scholarship
(DTO) Following her distinction as the national second-highest scorer in the A00 subject group at the 2026 National High School Graduation Examination, Nguyen Ngoc Tran, an alumna of Pham Thanh Trung High School (Thanh Hung commune), has marked another memorable milestone by becoming the sole female student among 12 recipients of the full “Tinh Hoa Khoa Hoc” (Science Excellence) Scholarship from the University of Science, Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City.
The scholarship is valued at 320 million VND, covering 100% of tuition fees for the full four-year program.

For Tran, this serves as a defining milestone at the start of her university life. After years of dedicated study in her hometown, she embarks on her higher education journey equipped with belief, confidence, and relentless motivation to continue conquering higher goals.
"I feel very happy and proud to receive the scholarship. This is well-deserved recognition for my unremitting efforts, as well as a major source of spiritual strength for me and my family," Tran shared.
The scholarship value of 320 million VND is equivalent to 100% of tuition fees across 4 years of study. For a freshman, this support offers tangible relief, providing Tran with optimal conditions to focus on studying and research during her university years.
The scholarship also builds Tran's confidence as she begins an entirely new journey where knowledge is broader, requirements are higher, and every student must take greater ownership of their learning.
It is reported that upon high school graduation, Tran chose to major in Integrated Circuit (IC) Design at the University of Science, Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City. This choice stems from her interest in the technology field and the development opportunities offered by this major.
"I chose IC Design because I recognize this as a spearhead sector, a technology trend of the future with abundant growth potential, " Tran shared.
Besides the major, the educational environment was also a key factor driving Tran's choice. In her view, the university possesses strong foundations in basic sciences—which is essential for a deep engineering discipline like IC design.
Tran understands the road ahead will not be easy. IC Design demands meticulousness, logical reasoning, and high precision. Learners must spend considerable time working on computers, continuously update knowledge, and hone problem-solving capabilities for complex challenges.
Yet those demands spark Tran's curiosity and desire to conquer. What particularly intrigues her is the ability to integrate millions—or even billions—of components into an extremely tiny space while ensuring operational performance for an entire system.
Transitioning from a student accustomed to the learning environment in Dong Thap Province, Tran is adapting to university life in Ho Chi Minh City. "The first thing I want to try at university is to proactively immerse myself in the new environment, participate in activities and clubs to broaden my horizons, and delve deeper into my major," Tran stated.

According to Tran, students need to set clear goals from the start, build discipline, and balance study with rest. She believes the "study hard, play hard" principle helps manage time more effectively while sustaining long-term learning momentum.
