Dong Thap: Student Scores Two Perfect 10s, Ranks Second Nationwide in A00 Group

(DTO) Nguyen Ngoc Tran, a Grade 12A4 student at Pham Thanh Trung High School (Thanh Hung Commune), was the sole candidate from Dong Thap Province to achieve absolute perfect scores in both Mathematics and Chemistry in the 2026 National High School Graduation Examination. With 10 points in Mathematics, 10 points in Chemistry, and 9.75 points in Physics, Tran earned a total score of 29.75 in the A00 subject combination (Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry), outstandingly becoming the province's top scorer in the A00 group and the national runner-up.

Upon learning the results, Ngoc Tran could not hide her joy and emotion. "I was truly surprised and overwhelmed with happiness. Although I had exerted my utmost efforts and felt quite confident after leaving the examination room, becoming the provincial top scorer and national runner-up was still a result that exceeded my expectations," she shared.

For Ngoc Tran, this achievement marks a memorable milestone, a well-deserved reward for months of diligent study, and a meaningful gift of gratitude dedicated to her family, teachers, and the school that have always accompanied her.

Few know that behind her near-perfect scores lies a long process of disciplined, methodical, and highly determined learning. According to Ngoc Tran, the most important factors are firmly grasping foundational knowledge, maintaining consistency, and not allowing oneself to get swept away by pressure. Rather than studying broadly, she focused on understanding the nature of each problem, regularly practiced examination papers, and thoroughly drew lessons from her mistakes.

During her exam preparation, Ngoc Tran structured her study plan by phases. The initial phase focused on consolidating knowledge, followed by progressively increasing the volume of practice tests, and finally reviewing areas prone to errors. Despite prioritizing the subjects required for university admission, she maintained a balanced study pace in other subjects to ensure a comprehensive knowledge base.

Mr. Dang Van Nau, her homeroom teacher of Class 12A4, stated that Nguyen Ngoc Tran's outstanding achievement was not a momentary breakthrough but the result of a process of persistently accumulating knowledge in a disciplined, scientific, and systematic manner since her early days in high school.

"Ngoc Tran possesses a very serious learning attitude, always approaching knowledge with curiosity and genuine passion. She does not merely absorb knowledge in class but also proactively engages in self-study and self-research through reference materials and digital learning resources. In both studies and daily life, she remains modest, sociable, and always ready to assist her peers," the homeroom teacher remarked.

Throughout her three years in high school, Ngoc Tran continuously earned the title of outstanding student. Her final year was truly an accelerating academic year, marking the maturity of her cognitive thinking. Notably, she outstandingly brought home a second prize in the provincial Chemistry competition for outstanding students.

According to her homeroom teacher, the spirit of self-study has been Ngoc Tran's sharpest "weapon." Whenever encountering a difficult math problem or a complex issue, she always seeks multiple solution paths instead of merely stopping at one method.

What impressed teachers most was Ngoc Tran's progressive spirit. Despite achieving many high accomplishments, she never grew complacent, always listening to feedback to fill even the smallest gaps in her knowledge. It was her effective time management capacity and modesty that helped her achieve a near-perfect result in this year's exam.

Sharing about her upcoming plans, Ngoc Tran stated that she intends to register for admission to the Integrated Circuit Design program at the University of Science, Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City.

Looking back on the journey, she shared: "I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my teachers who dedicatedly imparted knowledge and constantly encouraged me. I am always grateful to my family for being my anchor, caring for me in every aspect of my life, and serving as a great source of motivation throughout my academic journey."
