(DTO) In response to National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on April 7, the Dong Thap Provincial Red Cross Society has issued its 2026 plan for voluntary blood collection, featuring a range of meaningful activities to help secure sufficient blood supplies for emergency care and treatment, while spreading a spirit of compassion throughout the community.

According to the plan, activities across the province will take place from March 15 to May 31, 2026, with the peak period in April. The movement will be held widely, mobilizing officials, civil servants, public employees, armed forces, Youth Union members, Red Cross members, and residents from all walks of life.

A large number of officials, civil servants, and Dong Thap residents actively sign up to donate blood.

The program aims not only to secure enough blood for medical needs but also to raise awareness and promote individual responsibility toward the community. Voluntary blood donation is regarded as a noble act, reflecting compassion and the willingness to share for the sake of patients’ lives.

The province targets collecting at least 15% of its total annual blood demand in 2026, equivalent to roughly 4,125 units, during the implementation period. Each commune and ward will organize collection points capable of receiving 100-150 units, contributing to the overall target.

“Every drop of blood you give can save a life” - a meaningful gesture by the people of Dong Thap, bringing hope to patients in need.

To ensure effectiveness, the Dong Thap Provincial Red Cross Society will coordinate with Steering Committees for Voluntary Blood Donation at all levels and relevant units to set up safe and convenient blood collection sites. At the provincial level, a major collection event is planned for April 2026, expecting to gather around 300 units at the Dong Thap Children’s Cultural House.

Communication efforts will also be strengthened, aligning with activities for “Vietnam National Health Day (April 7)” and “Humanitarian Month.” Messages such as “Donate blood to save lives - Donate regularly” and “Donate tissues and organs - Giving is forever” will continue to be promoted widely to enhance public awareness and participation.

Provincial departments, agencies, and mass organizations will encourage staff and workers to join the effort, while media outlets intensify coverage to expand the campaign’s social impact.

Commune steering committees will develop their own plans tailored to actual conditions and organize suitable collection points. They will also focus on donor care and counseling to ensure safety for both donors and recipients.

With collective support from the community, the voluntary blood donation movement in Dong Thap is expected to continue gaining strong momentum in 2026, bringing life and hope to many patients in need.
