Dong Thap: Timely Solutions to Remove Obstacles in Building Inter-Level Schools in Border Areas
(DTO) On January 23, in Thuong Phuoc Commune, Vice Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee Huynh Minh Tuan and representatives from relevant departments held a working session with authorities of Thuong Phuoc, Tan Hong, Hong Ngu, and Thuong Lac on investment and construction of inter-level schools in border areas.

This initiative follows the Ministry of Education and Training’s policy on building inter-level boarding and semi-boarding schools (primary to lower secondary) in border communes. In Dong Thap Province, six schools are planned for construction in the aforementioned localities.
During the meeting, representatives of the communes and wards reported on proposed construction sites and investment scales. Each school is expected to include at least 26 classrooms, accommodating more than 1,000 students, with a land area of five hectares or more. Facilities will include specialized rooms, sports areas, residential blocks, and other supporting structures.

After the working session, Vice Chairman Huynh Minh Tuan generally agreed with the reports and proposals submitted by the localities. Regarding the site selection for the Hong Ngu Primary-Lower Secondary School, he emphasized that the spatial layout must be planned appropriately.
He also requested localities to urgently complete their documentation for provincial submission. The Department of Education and Training will establish an inter-sectoral working group to promptly address difficulties faced by communes and wards during implementation. Priority will be given to Thuong Phuoc Commune, which may be selected as the pilot site for the province.
