Dong Thap: Tran Thi Ngoc Yen Receives Cash Award for Winning Gold at ASIAD 20

(DTO) On the evening of October 4, shortly after the Vietnam Sepak Takraw Team returned home, the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee and the Dong Thap Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented a cash award to athlete Tran Thi Ngoc Yen for her outstanding achievement in winning a gold medal in sepak takraw at the 20th Asian Games (ASIAD 20). 

Tran Thi Ngoc Yen, a member of the Dong Thap Sepak Takraw Team, was called up to the national team to compete at ASIAD 20 in Japan. In the quadrant event of sepak takraw, Tran Thi Ngoc Yen played as the striker and, together with her teammates, defeated Thailand 2-1. 

Notably, this gold medal marked Ngoc Yen’s second consecutive ASIAD title with her teammates. For this outstanding achievement, the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee awarded her 140 million VND under Resolution No. 08/NQ-HDND of the Provincial People’s Council. 

On this occasion, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded athlete Tran Thi Ngoc Yen 20 million VND for winning a gold medal at ASIAD 20, and coach Phan Minh Triet 10 million VND for coaching an athlete who won a gold medal in sepak takraw at ASIAD 20.
