Dong Thap Welcomes Around 422,500 Visitors During Lunar New Year 2026

(DTO) During the seven-day 2026 Lunar New Year holiday, Dong Thap Province welcomed approximately 422,500 tourists, a 10% increase compared to the same period last year.

According to the Dong Thap Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the extended 2026 Lunar New Year break created favorable conditions for people to plan spring outings, sightseeing, and recreational activities. This helped stimulate tourism, trade, and service demand.

The long holiday also enabled localities and tourism businesses to develop and launch a wide range of programs and products for tourists. At the same time, it enhanced destination promotion, boosted revenue growth, and created a joyful and festive atmosphere among the public.

From the 27th day of the last lunar month to the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, Dong Thap Province estimated about 422,500 tourist arrivals, up 10% year-on-year, including 22,500 international visitors, a 16% increase.

Total tourism revenue reached 170 billion VND, up 16% from the same period. Average accommodation occupancy ranged from 75% to 80%.

During the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism proactively advised, coordinated, and implemented a series of major activities, ensuring they were well-presented, practical, and effective.

Key events included the 2026 Spring Flower Market (at Hung Vuong Square in Dao Thanh Ward, and major streets in My Tra Ward); the 2026 Spring Flower Street (at Hung Vuong Square in Dao Thanh Ward, and Ly Thuong Kiet Street in Cao Lanh Ward); the opening ceremony of the Spring Flower Street; a New Year’s art program broadcast live on Dong Thap Television; and New Year’s Eve fireworks shows at Hung Vuong Square and local venues in Cao Lanh Ward, Sa Dec Ward, and Hong Ngu Ward.

At the same time, to meet the entertainment needs of residents and visitors during the holiday, localities also developed and hosted numerous cultural, artistic, sports, and tourism activities to attract domestic and international tourists to explore and experience the province.
