Dr. Truong Tan Dat Appointed Rector of Dong Thap University

(DTO) On the afternoon of June 5, the Ministry of Education and Training hosted a conference in Hanoi to announce decisions appointing heads and deputy heads of higher education and vocational institutions under its direct management.

Under Decision No. 1519 dated June 4, 2026, the Minister of Education and Training appointed Dr. Truong Tan Dat, Secretary of the University's Party Committee, as Rector of Dong Thap University for a five-year term.

Prior to this appointment, Dr. Truong Tan Dat held several key leadership roles, including Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council, Editor-in-Chief of the Dong Thap University Journal of Science, and a member of the Dong Thap Provincial People's Council for the 2026–2031 tenure.

To consolidate key leadership personnel in accordance with the Politburo's Resolution No. 71 dated August 22, 2025, on breakthroughs in education and training development, Dong Thap University now features four vice rectors: Associate Professor Dr. Ho Van Thong, Associate Professor Dr. Ho Sy Thang, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Vu, and Dr. Cao Dao Thep.

According to Dr. Truong Tan Dat, restructuring key personnel aligns with the spirit of the Politburo's Resolution No. 71 dated August 22, 2025, on breakthroughs in education and training development, which is expected to enhance the effectiveness of university governance and meet current educational reform demands. He noted that the appointment also represents a pivotal step toward bolstering management capacity, elevating training quality, advancing scientific research, and enhancing community service activities at higher education institutions, including Dong Thap University.
