According to the campaign plan, the Standing Committee of the Dong Thap Provincial Youth Union will continue promoting the pioneering and volunteer spirit of Youth Union members, young people, and students from universities and colleges both within and outside the province. Volunteer projects and activities will be implemented in response to local development needs, focusing on new-style rural development, transport infrastructure, environmental protection, social welfare, child care, digital transformation, science and technology, innovation, and improving digital skills for local residents.

This year's campaign is expected to mobilise nearly 50 volunteer teams comprising more than 2,000 student volunteers from universities and colleges outside the province to carry out activities in communes and wards across Dong Thap. It remains one of the largest volunteer campaigns of its kind, reflecting the confidence of higher education institutions in Dong Thap while reaffirming the effectiveness of cooperation between Youth Union organisations and universities in bringing young intellectuals to serve local communities.

During the ceremony, the Standing Committee of the Dong Thap Provincial Youth Union announced the campaign's 12 key targets, introduced the Campaign Steering Committee for the Green Summer Volunteer Campaign 2026, held a flag presentation ceremony and officially launched the campaign, demonstrating the determination of young volunteers to achieve the campaign's objectives and contribute to the province's socio-economic development.

Addressing the event, Mr. Huynh Tan Thanh, Deputy Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Youth Union, Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Federation of Dong Thap Province, and Commander of the Green Summer Volunteer Campaign 2026, said this year's campaign would leverage the professional strengths of university student volunteer teams, making science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation integral components of all volunteer activities. Each project, he noted, should not only be completed during the campaign period but also deliver practical and sustainable benefits that meet local development needs in the new era.

A highlight of this year's campaign is the participation of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, which has mobilised more than 600 student volunteers and established three permanent volunteer teams to operate in Tan Duong, Tan Khánh Trung, and Hoa Long communes.

The university also presented symbolic funding worth VND3 billion to support projects and activities in the three localities. The resources will help construct more than 9 km of rural roads, alongside a wide range of social welfare programmes, science and technology transfer initiatives, and digital transformation activities.

Immediately after the ceremony, volunteer teams simultaneously began implementing activities across the province.

In Tan Duong Commune, volunteers visited families of people who had rendered meritorious service to the nation, organised STEM classes, conducted artificial intelligence (AI) training for Youth Union officials, guided residents in installing and using the VNeID application and cashless payment services, and surveyed historical sites for heritage documentation.
In Hoa Long Commune, volunteers began constructing the Minh Tam Bridge pier and cleared vegetation along the Dien Tay Duoi road.

Meanwhile, in Tan Khanh Trung Commune, volunteer teams cleared roadside vegetation, spread lime along local roads, organised summer activities for children, and visited and presented gifts to disadvantaged households.
