DTO/NDO- Ha Noi will waive all fares for subsidised public passenger transport services for seven days during the Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day holiday and the April 30–May 1 holiday period in 2026. The move is intended to encourage residents to use public transport, thereby helping to ease traffic congestion and reduce environmental pollution.

The policy will apply to 128 subsidised bus routes and two urban rail lines: Line 2A Cat Linh–Ha Dong and Line 3.1 Nhon–Ha Noi Station (elevated section). All passengers using these services will be eligible.

Many people choose to travel by metro during the National Day holiday on September 2, 2025.

The scheme will run for seven days, divided into two phases: Phase 1 from April 25 to 27, 2026 (Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day holiday), and Phase 2 from Apri 30 to May 3, 2026 (Reunification Day and May Day).

The estimated funding requirement is approximately 16.2 billion VND (about 615,000 USD), to be allocated from the 2026 public transport subsidy budget.

Based on previous implementations during holidays such as National Day on September 2, 2025 and the Lunar New Year 2026, the fare waiver policy has proven effective, with a marked increase in public transport usage. This has contributed to reducing reliance on private vehicles, easing traffic pressure, and improving the urban environment.
