Inauguration of the Exhibition House at the Xeo Quit Relic Site
(DTO) On the morning of April 29, at the Xeo Quit Relic Site in My Hiep Commune, the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee solemnly held the inauguration ceremony for the new Office Building and Exhibition House of the Xeo Quit Relic Site. The project was put into operation in time for the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, carrying profound political, historical, and cultural significance.

Among the attendees were Phan Van Thang, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province; Pham Thanh Ngai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Huynh Minh Tuan, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee; along with leaders and former leaders of central agencies; leaders and former leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap Province; and representatives of provincial departments, agencies, and local residents.

The Xeo Quit Relic Site covers approximately 63 hectares in My Hiep Commune. From 1960 to 1975, it served as the revolutionary base of the Party Committee of Kien Phong Province (now Dong Thap Province), directing the province’s resistance movement.

Amid harsh wartime conditions, with dense enemy outposts and constant raids, the Xeo Quit base remained steadfast, becoming a “people’s stronghold,” protected and supported by local residents. It made important contributions to the overall victory of the resistance war against the United States.
With its exceptional historical value, on April 9, 1992, the Ministry of Culture and Information recognized the Xeo Quit Relic Site as a National Historical and Cultural Relic Site.

Speaking at the ceremony, a representative of the Provincial Project Management Board stated that the Office Building and Exhibition House project was approved with a total investment of 44.5 billion VND from the state budget. Construction began on February 25, 2025, and was completed on schedule with ensured quality.
The project consists of five main components: the exhibition house, the office building, a parking lot, technical infrastructure systems, and a commemorative monument. The design harmonizes with the surrounding landscape of the relic site, meeting functional needs while honoring historical values.

Delivering remarks at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Huynh Minh Tuan emphasized that the project’s completion reflects the close guidance of the Provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee, the efforts of relevant departments and units, the Project Management Board, and the design and construction teams, along with strong support from the people.
He requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the relic site’s management unit to continue collecting artifacts, improving exhibition quality, and efficiently operating the facility to further promote the value of the Xeo Quit Relic Site in heritage education and local tourism development.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, delegates toured the Exhibition House and explored the displayed historical materials and artifacts.

The inauguration of the project not only enhances the facilities for heritage conservation but also creates a new highlight for Dong Thap’s cultural and historical tourism. It helps nurture pride and a sense of responsibility among the community in preserving and promoting revolutionary traditions, contributing to the province’s sustainable development.
