Incense Offering Commemorates General Tran Van Nang
(DTO) On the morning of April 3, delegations from the Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Binh, Binh Thanh, Tan Thanh, Tan Long, and An Long communes, alongside representatives of the General’s lineage, offered incense and ceremonial tributes at the Temple of General Tran Van Nang in Thanh Binh Commune, Dong Thap Province.

General Tran Van Nang made significant contributions to the resistance against Siamese invaders, safeguarding the Southwest border in the early 19th century. His temple was recognized as a National Historical and Cultural Site in 2004.

Alongside the ceremonial rites, a range of cultural and sporting activities took place, including drum performances, lion dances, traditional martial arts, elderly fitness exercises, and folk games. Exhibitions featured Southern traditional cakes, OCOP-certified products, and local agricultural goods. The temple’s ritual committee also prepared banh tet (cylindrical sticky rice cake) and banh xeo (Vietnamese pancake) for visitors.
The 2026 Commemoration Festival for General Tran Van Nang runs from March 2 to 4. The event honors the contributions of a revered historical figure while promoting the cultural identity, people, and specialty products of Thanh Binh.
