Mr. Le Thanh Cong Elected Chairman of Dong Thap Bird’s Nest Association

(DTO) On the morning of March 25, the Mobilization Board for the establishment of the Dong Thap Bird’s Nest Association held the first Congress of the Dong Thap Bird’s Nest Association for the 2026–2031 term.

Dong Thap Province is one of the localities with strong development of swiftlet attraction and farming. Currently, the province has around 1,782 swiftlet houses, concentrated in localities such as Go Cong, Cai Lay and Cho Gao. The output of bird’s nest farming in Dong Thap increased significantly during the 2011–2025 period compared to previous years.

In recent years, Vietnam’s bird’s nest industry in general and Dong Thap’s in particular have recorded many positive developments. 

However, the domestic market for bird’s nest products remains limited, while exports face barriers related to product quality and certification, preventing Dong Thap’s bird’s nest products from deeply penetrating international markets. The swiftlet house system in the province has not been uniformly managed.

The organization of production and processing of bird’s nest products in the province still faces many limitations, leading to inconsistent quality. Linkages between enterprises and swiftlet farming households remain weak.

At the Congress, delegates listened to practical presentations offering valuable insights and perspectives for the development of the local bird’s nest industry.

The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Dong Thap Bird’s Nest Association for the 2026–2031 term, consisting of 16 members, and a Standing Committee of five members. Mr. Le Thanh Cong, former Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and former Head of the Provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission of Dong Thap Province, and owner of Bang Nhung Bird’s Nest Facility, was elected Chairman of the Dong Thap Bird’s Nest Association. Mr. Bui Bang Son (Secretary General), and Messrs. Tran Quang Hung and Ha Van Tam were elected Vice Chairmen of the Association.

At the Congress, Tri Son Trading and Service Co., Ltd. and Nhan Loc Bird’s Nest Club also signed a cooperation agreement on technology transfer for swiftlet farming and product consumption linkage. The Congress also approved the action program and resolution for the 2026–2031 term.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Le Thanh Cong said that immediately after the Congress, the Executive Committee would quickly consolidate the organization and translate the resolution into practical, appropriate and feasible action plans. The goal is to gradually put the Association into stable and effective operation, meeting the expectations of its members.

In the coming time, the Executive Committee of the Dong Thap Bird’s Nest Association will continue to develop membership, enhance the value chain of the bird’s nest industry, and further improve product quality.
