Musical Drama At Huynh Thuy Le Ancient House: Reliving "The Lover" Romance By The Sa Giang River
(DTO) On the evening of December 30, amidst the nostalgic ambiance of the Huynh Thuy Le Ancient House National Monument, the musical drama themed "A Night of Telling a Love Story" officially premiered.
This performance is one of the unique and emotional cultural highlights within the framework of the 2nd Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Plant Festival 2025.

The program attracted a wide audience of locals and visitors alike, who were drawn into an artistic space to relive the poignant and tragic love story that has touched generations.

Meticulously staged, the musical skillfully guides audiences back in time, recreating emotional fragments of the cross-border romance between the young heir of the Huynh family and French writer Marguerite Duras.

The performance vividly portrays key milestones: the historic ferry crossing at My Thuan where destiny began; passionate memories in old Cho Lon (Saigon); and the dramatic conflict between the call of the heart and rigid family and social conventions of the time.

In the final act, through a deeply humanistic artistic lens, audiences are led to reflect on the classic literary work “The Lover” (L’Amant).
Though the love story does not conclude with a conventional happy ending, its incompleteness and separation have transformed it into legend. More than a personal memory, the story has become an enduring cultural heritage - an inseparable part of Sa Dec’s soul, intertwined with the gentle Sa Giang River.

Beyond the impressive stage performances, the program also brought the past to life within the ancient house grounds. With settings inspired by bygone decades, the space not only served as a backdrop for the legendary love story but also became a unique cultural check-in destination, allowing visitors to more deeply appreciate the heritage beauty of Sa Dec - the land of flowers.
