(DTO) To promote its local image, highlight traditional cultural values, and gradually develop community-based tourism, the People’s Committee of My Qui Commune (Dong Thap Province) launched the Countryside Market on the afternoon of February 7 at the inner-field area of Thang Loi Agricultural Service Cooperative (My Dong 5 Hamlet).

The market operates twice a month, on the Saturdays of the first and second weeks, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. During holidays and festivals, the schedule will be adjusted as needed.

The Countryside Market runs on the first and second Saturdays of each month, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Built as a small-scale version of a traditional market, the Countryside Market recreates the cultural atmosphere typical of the Dong Thap Muoi region.

The space includes three main zones with about 30 stalls: a food and cooking area; a section for farm produce and traditional foods; and a display area for lotus-based products, OCOP items, and souvenirs.

The stalls use eco-friendly materials like bamboo and wood, minimize plastic waste, and encourage cashless payments.

Visitors can enjoy rustic dishes such as banh xeo, banh la, banh canh, bun rieu, bun ca, and goi cuon, along with locally grown vegetables and fruits.

The market also features don ca tai tu (Southern traditional music) performances, helping preserve and promote the commune’s intangible cultural heritage.

Overall, the Countryside Market helps showcase the local image while creating sustainable livelihoods and raising incomes for local residents.
