Over 44,300 Candidates to Sit Grade 10 Entrance Exam

(DTO) During the two-day period of May 27 and 28, more than 44,300 candidates in Dong Thap will take the high school entrance examination for the 2026–2027 academic year. To date, local education authorities along with examination councils have largely completed preparations, standing ready to organize a safe and disciplined examination.

ENSURING THE BEST CONDITIONS FOR THE EXAMINATION

With the objective of ensuring that the examination takes place safely, seriously, and in strict compliance with regulations, the provincial Steering Committee for upper secondary school admissions for the 2026–2027 academic year has carried out inspections of examination organization at test sites across the province.

During inspections at the Cho Gao High School test site in Cho Gao Commune and the Nguyen Dinh Chieu High School test site in My Tho Ward, the delegation focused on examining the arrangement of examination rooms, surveillance camera systems, secure cabinets for exam papers and scripts, locks for examination material storage rooms, working conditions at examination council offices, as well as healthcare, food safety, and security measures at the test sites.

With 1,245 registered candidates, the examination council of Cho Gao High School has arranged its main site at the school the main test site at Cho Gao High School and an auxiliary site at Cho Gao Town Junior High School, totaling 52 examination rooms.

Up to now, preparations for facilities and equipment have basically been completed. The school campuses have been thoroughly cleaned, and exam rooms are fully equipped with adequate desks, chairs, lighting, and fans for students. 

The schools have also posted examination room lists and room maps to help candidates easily verify their information before the examination days. The careful and serious preparations demonstrate the schools’ determination to organize a safe, regulation-compliant exam.

Teacher Nguyen Phuc Vien Principal and Chairman of the Examination Council of Cho Gao High School stated: “In addition to fully preparing facilities and equipment for the examination, the school has coordinated closely with local police to implement plans ensuring security and order at the test site. 

At the same time, medicines and necessary conditions have been prepared to promptly support and handle unexpected situations, helping candidates feel secure while taking the exam.” 

Similarly, preparations at the Nguyen Dinh Chieu High School test site are wrapped up, ensuring readiness for safe and disciplined examination days.

Besides meeting all required conditions for functional rooms serving the examination, the school also arranged examination room maps early to help students conveniently look up information and identify their assigned rooms. 

The examination rooms are well-ventilated and clean to create a comfortable mindset for candidates. 

In addition, the school directed its Youth Union chapter to coordinate with the My Tho Ward Youth Union to deploy activities supporting and assisting candidates throughout the examination period.

Mr. Vo Van Hieu, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Education and Training, stated: “If candidates forget their exam cards, they can present their Citizen ID or other relevant documents to gain entry to the exam room.
If they carry no identification at all, the school will retrieve their enrollment files for cross-checking and still allow them to take the exam.
Our sector's priority is to safeguard candidates' interests and provide them with the ultimate support.”

Following the inspections at the two test sites, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Huynh Minh Tuan acknowledged and highly appreciated the sense of responsibility shown by the examination councils in preparing for the examination.

At the same time, he noted that the examination councils need to continue strengthening inspections and reviewing all stages prior to the exam days to timely detect and handle any arising issues. 

In addition, special attention must be paid to ensuring commuting safety for candidates under rainy and stormy weather conditions, helping them arrive at the test sites on time, while proactively supporting and promptly handling any incidents arising throughout the duration of the examination.

Apart from examination venues in mainland communes, the education sector has instructed exam councils on island communes to strictly enforce regulations and coordinate closely with local authorities and relevant agencies. The goal is to ensure candidates arrive on time by facilitating ferry and boat travel to prevent any candidates arriving late.

At the Thanh Binh 2 High School test site in Tan Long island commune, this year’s examination hosts 603 registered candidates. Among them, 11 reside in An Long commune and must take the Tan Binh ferry to reach test site.

Teacher Phan Cong Tru, Principal and Chairman of the Thanh Binh 2 High School Exam Council, said: “The school regularly publicizes the examination schedule so parents stay informed and candidates avoid arriving late. 

For the candidates from An Long commune who depend on the ferry, the school has requested the commune People’s Committee to work with the operator to prioritize student river crossings. At the same time, parents are urged to drop off their children early.”

“Furthermore, the school has fully prepared facilities, equipment, and surveillance camera systems, while deploying a three-tier traffic safety and security protocol to ensure a smooth, secure examination,” Teacher Phan Cong Tru added.

Teacher Vo Van Hieu, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Education and Training, stated: “To date, all test sites have fully prepared facilities, exam rooms, and storage areas for candidates’ belongings, while meeting all fire safety standards. 

The provincial Steering Committee has inspected venues to ensure the Grade 10 entrance exam on May 27 and 28 takes place safely and in compliance with protocols. Preparations are essentially complete, and exam papers will be delivered to all sites on May 26.”

STRICT COMPLIANCE WITH EXAM REGULATIONS

On the afternoon of May 26, 2026, exam councils will brief candidates on the rules to prevent violations.

More than 44,300 candidates across the province will take the 2026–2027 high school entrance exam.

Accordingly, candidates must report to their assigned exam rooms on time to complete procedures. Any errors in personal information must be immediately reported to invigilators for prompt correction. Lost exam cards must be reported instantly to the Exam Council Chairman for resolution. Candidates arriving 15 minutes after the official start signal will be barred from that session.

Candidates absent from a single subject will not be permitted to take subsequent exams. Candidates must sit in their assigned seats according to registration numbers, present exam cards upon request, and maintain order inside the room.

In addition, to serve the test-taking process, Candidates may bring into the exam room: pens, rulers, pencils, erasers, set squares, graphing rulers, drawing instruments, and handheld calculators without text-editing functions and memory cards.

Prohibited items include: carbon paper, correction fluid or tape, alcoholic beverages, weapons, explosives, flammable substances, documents, and any communication or data-storage devices that could facilitate cheating during testing or grading.

For essay exams, candidates may leave the venue after two-thirds of the testing time has elapsed, provided they submit their answer sheets, exam papers, and scratch paper. For multiple-choice exams, candidates are strictly forbidden from leaving the room during the entire session.

Furthermore, candidates will be suspended for the following infractions: violating rules after receiving an official warning; bringing prohibited items stipulated in Article 21 into the room; leaking exam questions or receiving outside assistance; writing or drawing irrelevant content on answer sheets; or engaging in disruptive behavior, threatening exam officials, or threatening other candidates.
