Photo exhibition opens to mark Viet Nam–Cuba diplomatic relations

DTO/NDO- A photo exhibition opened on December 16 in Quang Ninh Province, marking the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Cuba (December 2, 1960 –2025).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, affirmed: “Viet Nam–Cuba relations are a special friendship built on Cuba’s steadfast support for Viet Nam during its war for national independence.”

Delegates cut the ribbon to inaugurate the photo exhibition “Connecting and spreading Viet Nam–Cuba friendship”.

She expressed deep appreciation and gratitude for the special friendship, close solidarity, generous support, and wholehearted assistance that Cuba has extended to Viet Nam, and especially Quang Ninh Province, throughout the struggle for national liberation and reunification. She emphasised that the close Viet Nam–Cuba relationship will continue to develop in depth and effectiveness, bringing benefits to the peoples of both countries, serving sustainable development goals, and making positive contributions to peace, stability, and prosperity in the two countries and the world.

The Vice Chairwoman shared: “Our greatest wish is that, in the spirit of the close friendship between Cuba and Viet Nam, Quang Ninh Province will become a special bridge of cooperation between the heritage sites of the two countries.”

At the exhibition, Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Cuban Ambassador to Viet Nam, stated: “This event is one of the meaningful activities in 2025 — the Year of Viet Nam–Cuba Friendship. Over the years, Viet Nam–Cuba relations have been a special, loyal, and rare relationship in the history of international relations, laid early by President Ho Chi Minh and Leader Fidel Castro, and nurtured by deep empathy, wholehearted support, and steadfast solidarity between the two peoples. This relationship has been continuously enriched by successive generations of leaders and peoples of both countries. Today, Viet Nam and Cuba remain comprehensive partners in all fields, including education, healthcare, and the economy.”

The exhibition features valuable documentary photographs of historic visits by leaders of the two countries, along with diplomatic activities that provide viewers with an overall picture of Viet Nam–Cuba relations over the past 65 years.

In addition, more than 100 photographs showcasing the nature, land, and people of Viet Nam and Quang Ninh, as well as vivid scenes of Cuba captured by renowned photographers Alejandro Azcuy and Roberto Suárez, take visitors on a colourful visual journey through rich natural landscapes and warm, vibrant communities.

This exhibition is a must-visit destination, set against the magnificent architecture, artistic and historical treasures, and the captivating scenery of Ha Long Bay - a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.

The exhibition will run until December 21.
