(DTO)Pineapples have been rooted in Tan Phuoc since the district’s early establishment. Today, the crop remains a cornerstone of the local economy for residents in Tan Phuoc 1, Tan Phuoc 2, Tan Phuoc 3, and Hung Thanh communes.
Tan Phuoc currently boasts over 16,000 hectares of pineapple cultivation, yielding an annual output of more than 260,000 tonnes.Through diligence, creativity, and the adoption of VietGAP standards and modern farming techniques, local farmers have achieved exceptional yields and fruit quality. At harvest, pineapples are tossed into field canals to be floated downstream, a clever method to streamline collection. The fruit is then gathered onto sampans and transported to collection points to await wholesalers. With traders purchasing directly at the farm, prices have remained stable at VND 7,000–10,000 per kg in recent years, ensuring a prosperous income for farmers. Beyond fresh produce, second-grade pineapples are used to craft the region’s renowned pineapple jam.
