BUILDING BORDER BOARDING SCHOOLS IN DONG THAP:
Proactively preparing for groundbreaking
(DTO) Dong Thap Province is mobilizing resources to break ground on inter-level boarding schools (primary to lower secondary) in land border areas. The move aims to bolster the local school network, ensuring stable education for border students and bridging the gap between regions.
ACCELERATING PROFESSOR
With the goal of gradually improving educational infrastructure in border regions, Dong Thap Province is urgently preparing the necessary conditions to implement the construction of an inter-level boarding school system in land border communes. Provincial departments, sectors, and local authorities are closely coordinating to finalize legal procedures, adjust planning schemes, conduct site clearance, and prepare organizational arrangements, creating favorable conditions for the projects to commence on schedule.

In Thuong Phuoc Commune, the Thuong Phuoc Inter-level Boarding School (Primary–Lower Secondary) will be established through the merger of Thuong Phuoc 1B Primary School and Thuong Phuoc Lower Secondary School. According to the plan, the school will have 50 classrooms, including 38 newly built rooms and 12 renovated ones. In addition, 41 functional rooms will be arranged, including 24 newly built and 17 renovated rooms.
After expanding by 31,000 square meters, the total campus area will reach 49,000 square meters. The school is expected to accommodate approximately 2,040 students in 50 classes, including 735 primary students (21 classes) and 1,305 lower secondary students (29 classes). The estimated investment capital is VND 263.179 billion, of which VND 249.229 billion will come from the central government and VND 13.95 billion from the provincial budget. Currently, 7 out of 7 households in the expansion area have agreed to the project; land measurement has been completed and compensation plans are being prepared.
In Tan Hong Commune, the Tan Hong Inter-level Boarding School (Primary–Lower Secondary) will be formed through the merger of Binh Phu Primary School and Nguyen Du Lower Secondary School. The school will be built on the current site of Binh Phu Primary School, which presently has 10 classrooms and 18 functional rooms on an area of 6,200 square meters. The project will include 27 classrooms, consisting of 12 newly built and 15 renovated rooms, along with 35 functional rooms, including 27 newly built and 8 renovated rooms.
After land compensation for an additional 43,300 square meters, the total campus area will reach 49,500 square meters. The school will serve approximately 1,065 students in 27 classes, including 525 primary students (15 classes) and 540 lower secondary students (12 classes). The project’s total investment is VND 295.156 billion, including VND 256 billion from the central government and VND 39.156 billion from the provincial counterpart budget. All 16 households affected by the project have attended meetings and agreed to the policy, and local authorities are currently implementing the next steps in accordance with regulations.
In Tan Ho Co Commune, the Tan Ho Co Inter-level Boarding School (Primary–Lower Secondary) will be established through the merger of four units: Tan Thanh B1 Primary School, Tan Thanh B2 Primary School (satellite campus), Tan Ho Co Primary School (satellite campus), and Tan Thanh B Lower Secondary School. The school will be constructed on land adjacent to Tan Thanh B Lower Secondary School and Tan Thanh B1 Primary School, which currently have 16 classrooms and 10 functional rooms on an area of 14,017 square meters. According to the design, the school will have 32 classrooms, including 26 newly built and 6 renovated rooms, along with 36 functional rooms, including 19 newly built and 17 renovated rooms.
After expanding by 34,433 square meters, the total campus area will reach 48,450 square meters. The school is expected to serve 1,240 students in 32 classes, including 700 primary students (20 classes) and 540 lower secondary students (12 classes). The estimated investment is VND 310.403 billion, with VND 291.143 billion supported by the central government and VND 19.26 billion from the provincial budget. All 6 households subject to compensation have agreed, and the locality is continuing to complete procedures in accordance with regulations.
In Tan Thanh Commune, the Tan Thanh Inter-level Boarding School (Primary–Lower Secondary) will be established through the merger of Thong Binh 1 Primary School, Thong Binh 2 Primary School (satellite campus), and Thong Binh Lower Secondary School. The project will be built on the current site of Thong Binh Lower Secondary School, covering an existing area of 4,810.98 m², where 10 classrooms are planned for demolition and four functional rooms will be renovated.
The project includes the construction of 27 new classrooms and 35 functional rooms, including 31 newly built rooms and four renovated ones. After compensation for an additional 44,999.02 m², the total campus area will reach 49,810 m². The school will accommodate approximately 1,065 students in 27 classes, including 525 primary students (15 classes) and 540 lower secondary students (12 classes).
The total estimated investment is VND 300.918 billion, including VND 276.316 billion funded by the central government and VND 24.602 billion from the provincial counterpart budget. All 9 affected households have agreed with the policy, and site clearance is being implemented in accordance with regulations.
In Hong Ngu Ward, the Hong Ngu Inter-level Boarding School (Primary–Lower Secondary) planned to help reduce pressure on An Thanh Lower Secondary School and An Thanh 1, An Thanh 2 and An Thanh 3 Primary Schools, while also inheriting part of the facilities of Tan Hoi Lower Secondary School. The project will be constructed on a new site with a compensation area of 49,500 m².
The investment scale includes 40 classrooms and 39 functional rooms, meeting the learning demand for about 1,600 students in 40 classes, including 700 primary students (20 classes) and 900 lower secondary students (20 classes). The total estimated investment is VND 415.241 billion, of which VND 360.394 billion will be supported by the central government, while the provincial budget contributes VND 54.847 billion. Currently, the locality is adjusting its zoning plan, and site clearance will be carried out once the construction site is finalized.

In Thuong Lac Ward, the Thuong Thoi Hau Inter-level Boarding School (Primary–Lower Secondary) will be established through the merger of Thuong Thoi Hau A1 Primary School, Thuong Lac Primary School, and Thuong Thoi Hau A Lower Secondary School. The school will be built at the current location of Thuong Thoi Hau A Lower Secondary School, which currently has 10 classrooms and eight functional rooms on an area of 7,176.03 m². The project includes the construction of 31 new classrooms and 35 functional rooms, including 18 newly built rooms and 17 renovated rooms. After expanding by 41,868.17 m², the total campus area will reach 49,044.2 m².
The school is expected to serve 1,245 students in 31 classes, including 525 primary students (15 classes) and 720 lower secondary students (16 classes). The total estimated investment is VND 291.964 billion, including VND 273.071 billion from the central government and VND 18.893 billion from the provincial counterpart budget. All 8 affected households have agreed with the policy; the locality has completed land measurement and is preparing compensation plans.
READY FOR THE GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY
Preparations for the groundbreaking ceremony of border-area school projects in Dong Thap Province are being urgently and synchronously carried out by relevant agencies. According to the plan, the ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 19, 2026. So far, provincial departments, sectors and localities have proactively developed organizational plans, assigned specific responsibilities and ensured the necessary conditions for the ceremony to be conducted solemnly, safely and on schedule.
The Department of Education and Training plays the coordinating role in organizing the event. The department has been closely monitoring and urging preparations, promptly summarizing difficulties and reporting them for timely solutions. At the same time, it is working with the Area 1 Construction Investment Project Management Board to prepare the contents of the ceremony, confirm the list of participants and issue invitations according to the plan.
Meanwhile, the provincial police have developed plans to ensure security and public order throughout the event, strengthen traffic inspection and regulation on routes leading to the venue, and deploy fire prevention, firefighting and rescue operations. Local police forces have also been instructed to closely monitor the area and promptly handle any arising situations.
Alongside the coordination of departments, the Construction Project Management Board Area 1 is tasked with leading the preparation of ceremony conditions, ranging from reception and logistics to communication, decoration, staging, and program management. At this stage, the fundamental tasks are ready, and units are continuing to review final steps to ensure a thoughtful groundbreaking ceremony.
Together with provincial sectors, Local authorities where the projects will be implemented are also actively coordinating to prepare necessary conditions for the ceremony, supporting the organization, arranging forces to maintain order, guiding traffic and assisting with venue preparation and ceremonial decoration.
