DTO/NDO- The 2026 Red Flamboyant Festival will open in Hai Phong City on May 8 with a grand arts programme showcasing the city’s history, revolutionary traditions, and achievements during a period of dynamic transformation.

The opening ceremony will feature nearly 1,000 artists and performers, including People’s Artists Khanh Hoa and Nhat Thuan, Meritorious Artist Dang Duong, and renowned singers My Tam, Trong Tan, and Pham Thu Ha.

Red Flamboyant Festival offers Hai Phong a platform for cultural exchange.

This year’s festival carries particular significance, following the merger of Hai Phong and Hai Duong, which has created a new urban identity with expanded development space, enriched cultural depth, and greater momentum for breakthroughs.

The festival will span the entire city, from squares, theatres, libraries, and museums to communes, wards, and special zones. With 20 city-level events and 40 grassroots activities, it will run until the end of May 2026, enhancing visitor experiences, stimulating tourism, commerce, and services, while affirming Hai Phong’s role as a cultural-tourism hub in the Northern Coastal Region.

Within the festival framework, Hai Phong will host cultural exchanges and artistic performances with international delegations. A highlight is the programme marking 20 years of friendship between Hai Phong and Nanning (Guangxi, China). The Nanning art troupe will perform on May 9 at Hoa Phuong Theatre, presenting the distinctive cultural beauty of Guangxi.

Additionally, the Bujihwa art delegation from the Republic of Korea will bring fresh, modern, and unique cultural expressions to the festival.
