Region 13 banking operations remain stable, driving digital transformation
(DTO) On the afternoon of July 21, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Region 13 Branch held a conference to review banking operations in the first six months of 2026 and outline tasks for the remaining six months across Dong Thap and Tay Ninh provinces.
Attending the event were SBV Deputy Governor Nguyen Ngoc Canh, along with representatives of provincial departments, agencies, credit institutions, and People's Credit Funds in the region.

During the first half of 2026, the SBV Region 13 Branch proactively advised local Party committees and authorities on implementing monetary and credit policy instruments, while strengthening coordination with relevant departments to maintain banking stability and support the economic growth targets of both provinces.
Total mobilized capital in the region reached VND 468.189 trillion, up 8.52% compared to the end of 2025. The deposit-to-loan coverage ratio improved from 82% to 86.5%. Total outstanding credit reached VND 541.111 trillion, with lending to the agriculture and rural sectors accounting for 60% of the region's total credit portfolio. Credit programs supporting agriculture, forestry, and fisheries continued to be implemented effectively, representing 8.8% of the nationwide program scale.

Digital transformation and cashless payments also recorded robust growth, with nearly 9.7 million payment accounts, more than 631 million cashless transactions worth over VND 4.6 quadrillion, and nearly 673,000 QR code payment acceptance points.
In addition, inspection, supervision, and early-warning mechanisms for credit institutions and People's Credit Funds were strengthened, safeguarding the stability of the regional banking system.

At the conference, representatives of credit institutions presented keynote papers on interest rate policies, green credit, digital transformation, cashless payments, bad debt resolution, and the restructuring of People's Credit Funds.
Addressing the conference, Deputy Governor Nguyen Ngoc Canh urged the SBV Region 13 Branch and local credit institutions to continue promoting solidarity, responsibility, initiative, and greater determination. They must closely follow the directives of the Government, the Prime Minister, the SBV, and the socio-economic development goals of Dong Thap and Tay Ninh. He also called for task implementation with a spirit of clear tasks, clear responsibilities, and clear outcomes, while maintaining a safe, sound, and efficient banking system to contribute effectively to the provinces' goal of achieving double-digit economic growth and to the overall performance of the banking sector.

On this occasion, the SBV Region 13 Branch signed coordination regulations and plans with the Offices of the National Assembly Delegation and People's Councils of Dong Thap and Tay Ninh provinces, as well as the provincial Tax Departments, to strengthen coordination in supervision, support digital transformation for household businesses and individual business operators, and promote cashless payments.

The conference also announced and presented awards for the 2026 "Digital Innovation Ideas for the Banking Sector in Region 13" Competition, recognizing 22 winning ideas, including 1 First Prize, 5 Second Prizes, 5 Third Prizes, and 11 Consolation Prizes. A meeting was also held to express gratitude to the branch's retirees for their years of service.
