(DTO) On the afternoon of January 13, Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee Huynh Minh Tuan chaired a meeting to review the outcomes of the 2nd Sa Dec Flower & Ornamental Plant Festival.

The festival attracted large numbers of visitors.

Held from December 27, 2025 to January 4, 2026 under the theme “Blossoms of a New Day,” the festival truly became a celebration for both residents and visitors.

Over its nine days, the event welcomed nearly 1.2 million people (including more than 1,600 international visitors). Total revenue from tourism and related economic activities was estimated at 468 billion VND.

The festival featured 25 activities. Notably, during the opening night, Dong Thap Province proudly received the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Certificate recognizing Sa Dec’s ornamental plant-growing craft.

Hot-air balloon activities became a standout attraction, creating a signature highlight for Dong Thap.

A distinctive feature of this year’s festival was the harmonious blend of traditional culture and modern elements. A prime example was the installation “Map of Vietnam,” made from the largest number of flower and ornamental plant varieties in the country, officially certified by the Vietnam Records Organization.

Vice Chairman Huynh Minh Tuan chaired the review meeting for the 2nd Sa Dec Flower & Ornamental Plant Festival.

Despite the achievements, representatives from several departments openly pointed out bottlenecks that need to be addressed for future editions of the festival.

Specifically, they noted the lack of post-event tour connectivity, the limited sustainability of commercial services, and the passive media outreach to press agencies outside the province.

In his concluding remarks, Vice Chairman Huynh Minh Tuan emphasized that although the festival generated strong momentum for trade and tourism, its organization must be more methodical and better coordinated.

He requested that relevant units promptly work on positioning the festival’s brand at an international level, strengthening regional linkages, investing in accommodation facilities, and most importantly, assigning responsibilities clearly to ensure no tasks are overlooked.

The core objective is to maximize trade efficiency and ensure real economic benefits for the community once the festival concludes.
