Sa Dec and My Phong Wards Share Experience in Ornamental Plant Production
(DTO) On the morning of October 30, a delegation from the My Phong Ward People’s Committee, led by Vice Chairwoman Pham Thi Truc Huong, visited Sa Dec Flower Village to exchange and learn from local experience in developing ornamental plant production linked with agricultural tourism. The visit aimed to support plans for building and developing My Phong Flower Village for the 2026-2031 period, with a vision toward 2040.
The delegation was welcomed by Huynh Anh Dien, Vice Chairman of the Sa Dec Ward People’s Committee, along with representatives of relevant departments and the Ward Ornamental Plant Association.

According to the Sa Dec Ward People’s Committee, the ward currently has more than 960 hectares of ornamental plants, with over 4,000 households engaged in production. For the 2027 Lunar New Year flower season alone, approximately 100 hectares are expected to be planted, mainly with traditional varieties such as chrysanthemum, multicolored chrysanthemums, lisianthus, roses and marigolds. The estimated supply for the Lunar New Year market exceeds 1 million flower baskets.
At the meeting, representatives of Sa Dec shared their experience in production conditions, irrigation water sources, variety selection, cultivation techniques, pest and disease control, and year-round production planning. Particular emphasis was placed on selecting varieties that meet market demand, properly planning growing areas, and improving product quality and value. They also highlighted the expanded use of ornamental plants in public works decoration and urban landscaping.

The two localities also exchanged experience in developing agricultural tourism linked with ornamental plant production, garden visits and hands-on experiences. Researching and selecting new flower varieties suited to local soil conditions for propagation and commercial production was another focus, with the aim of diversifying products, making the flower villages more attractive and increasing incomes for ornamental plant growers.
During the visit, the My Phong delegation toured Ut Hiep Plant Nursery to learn about tissue culture propagation techniques and potential partnerships in seedling supply. They also visited Tư Ton Rose Garden to learn from its experience in developing a tourist destination centered on ornamental plants.
