DTO/NDO- The Centre for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature (Ha Noi) will organise a cultural experience programme titled “A Day of Fun” to mark International Children's Day (June 1). The programme is expected to be a meaningful spiritual gift for children.

The programme will take place at the Temple of Literature on May 30 and 31, offering a space that brings together elements of both the past and the present.

One of the featured events, “I Am a Leaf – I Am a Flower”, will be held in the Giam Garden area. During the event, children and their families can take part in creative traditional folk games such as hopscotch, animal races, ball-catching using specially designed costumes, and stilt walking.

The programme will feature a wide range of traditional cultural activities.

The creative experience zone will include activities such as making Thanh Tien paper flowers from Hue, creating leaf collages, painting Bat Trang ceramic pots, decorating pebbles, and making handicrafts from maize cobs. These activities are designed to stimulate children’s imagination and develop their manual skills.

The programme “Dung Dang Dung De – Taking Children Out to Play” will be held at Van Lake from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. The atmosphere of a traditional Vietnamese village will be recreated through a farm-themed area featuring games such as carrot harvesting, egg collection, ring tossing, wooden fishing games, monkey bridge walking, and giant-sized horse chess.

In addition, traditional folk games including bamboo dancing, tug of war, skipping, and sack races will take place in the main courtyard. These activities not only promote physical fitness but also help strengthen family bonds across generations.

A highlight of the programme will be performances by the Te Tieu puppet troupe, featuring plays inspired by traditional stories and customs. Interactive sessions will also provide an opportunity for children to try operating the puppets themselves.

One distinctive feature of the programme is the participation of artisans from traditional craft villages. In the area behind Van Lake, children and their families will be able to observe and learn from artisans demonstrating weaving, sedge knitting, air-dry clay modelling, traditional do paper kite making, and grasshopper and pinwheel making from coconut-leaf.

Unique folk techniques will be recreated as a lively and engaging educational method for children.

Notably, the programme will also include a dedicated discovery corner where children can learn about the Temple of Literature and Vietnamese history through quiz challenges, with attractive prizes on offer. The activity is expected to inspire a love for the nation among younger generations.

The cultural experience programme promises to be a meaningful gift for children on International Children's Day while strengthening the bonds among family members. It also provides an opportunity to promote and preserve Viet Nam’s traditional folk cultural values.
