Vessel KN 467 Tows Fishing Vessel with 21 Fishermen Safely back to Phu Quy
(DTO) After nearly 30 hours battling rough seas during a rescue mission, at 4 a.m. on September 9, Vessel KN 467 (under the Vietnam Coast Guard) safely towed fishing vessel LĐ95888-TS and its 21 crew members back to Phu Quy Special Zone in Lam Dong Province.

Earlier, fishing vessel LĐ95888-TS suffered engine failure and lost maneuverability while operating about 126 nautical miles east-northeast of Phu Quy Special Zone. At the time, the area was battered by southwesterly winds of force 5 to 6, with waves reaching 3 to 4 meters high.

Upon receiving the distress signal, at 6 p.m. on September 7, KN 467 urgently deployed on the rescue operation. At 11:30 p.m. the same day, the rescue vessel reached the stranded boat. Due to rough seas and high waves, the officers and crew were unable to board the fishing vessel directly. Consequently, they established indirect communication to assess the situation and reassure the fishermen, while rigging towlines to commence the tow back to Phu Quy Special Zone.

After safely reaching Phu Quy, all 21 fishermen were reported to be in stable health. KN 467 coordinated with relevant authorities to complete the handover procedures in accordance with regulations. At the port, local authorities and functional forces were present to receive, visit, and encourage the fishermen.
