Women – The "Weavers" of the Nation’s Splendid Tapestry
(DTO) Throughout the course of Vietnamese history, the image of women has always shone brightly.

During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh offered some of his most heartfelt praise: “Thanks to the dedication of Vietnamese women of all ages, the country has grown ever more prosperous and glorious.”
This affirmation is not only recognition but also a profound source of pride in the role of women in the nation’s history. On the occasion of the 116th anniversary of International Women’s Day (March 8, 1910 - March 8, 2026), we look back on that dedication to realize that in every era, women remain the soul of the nation and the warm flame of every family.
Looking back at history, from the indomitable spirit of the Trung Sisters and Lady Trieu to the legendary “Long-Haired Army,” Vietnamese women have demonstrated an unshakable will for independence and freedom. Entering a new era, that role has not faded but has become even more profound and diverse.
The late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong once reminded us: “Women must be the ones who keep the fire burning in every home, not only caring for their families but also nurturing faith, dreams, and hope for every member.” His words remind us that women are not only a steadfast support behind the scenes but also the ones who shape character, preserve moral values, and spread compassion within the “cells” of society.
In harmony with the flow of history, Dong Thap women have been writing new pages of pride through their intellect and dedication. During wartime, mothers and sisters courageously sheltered revolutionaries and remained steadfast in their villages. In peacetime, women of the Pink Lotus Land have shown dynamism and creativity on many fronts, from entrepreneurship and economic development to building new-style rural areas and civilized urban communities.
The people of Dong Thap take great pride in outstanding women who have affirmed their roles within the Party and State leadership, such as former President of the Vietnam Women’s Union Nguyen Thi Thap; former Vice President Truong My Hoa; and former Provincial Party Committee Secretaries Tran Thi Nhuong and Tran Thi Kim Cuc. These female leaders are vivid examples of the spirit of “being capable in national affairs while fulfilling family responsibilities,” inspiring younger generations of women to follow.
Today, amid new opportunities for the country, Dong Thap women continue to renew themselves. The emulation movement “Building Dong Thap Women: United - Compassionate - Progressive - Integrated” has become not just a slogan but a guiding principle for action.
Women today actively pursue learning and self-improvement, cultivating political awareness, moral character, and a healthy lifestyle. Each woman not only preserves the “Vietnamese family value system” but also spreads the “cultural values of the Pink Lotus Land,” shaping the image of modern women who are confident, responsible, and compassionate.
March 8 each year is not only a day to honor women but also an occasion for us to reflect and express gratitude for their quiet yet immense contributions. The sacrifices of mothers and sisters are worthy of the four golden words: “Heroic, Indomitable, Loyal, and Capable.”
Let us join hands to support and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese women in general, and Dong Thap women in particular, to continue shining and weaving ever greater glory for the nation.
