1,000 National Flags Presented to Fishing Vessels Setting Sail for the New Year
(DTO) On February 25 (the 9th day of the first lunar month), at Vam Lang Fishing Port (Gia Thuan Commune, Dong Thap Province), the Border Guard Command of Dong Thap Province, in coordination with Petrolimex Dong Thap Co., Ltd., the Sub-Department of Fisheries, and Vam Lang Fishing Port, organized a communication campaign against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
On this occasion, national flags were also presented to boat owners and fishermen as their vessels prepared to set sail at the beginning of the year.
Speaking at the event, Lieutenant Colonel Truong Thanh Tien, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Border Guard Command of Dong Thap Province, wished local fishermen favorable seas and abundant catches on their first voyage of the year. He also urged them to strictly comply with State regulations on fisheries exploitation and to actively head offshore to develop the economy in association with safeguarding national sovereignty over seas and islands.

On this occasion, Petrolimex Dong Thap Co., Ltd. presented 1,000 national flags to vessels engaged in offshore fishing activities, encouraging fishermen to confidently head out to sea with the message that each boat serves as a “living milestone” affirming national sovereignty over the country’s seas and islands.
Functional agencies also visited each docked vessel to offer greetings, present flags, distribute leaflets, and provide guidance to vessel owners, captains, and fishermen on complying with IUU fishing regulations. At the same time, they reminded crews about fire and explosion prevention, ensuring safety for people and vessels, proactively responding to natural disasters, and conducting search and rescue operations at sea.
