120TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF PM PHAM VAN DONG (MARCH 1, 1906 – MARCH 1, 2026):

A Steadfast And Exemplary Leader Of The Party And The Vietnamese Revolution

(DTO) Prime Minister  Pham Van Dong, alias To, was born on March 1, 1906, into a patriotic intellectual family in Duc Tan Commune, Mo Duc District, Quang Ngai Province (now Mo Duc Commune, Quang Ngai Province).

He was an outstanding leader of the Party, the State, and the Vietnamese revolution; a steadfast and exemplary communist who devoted his entire life to national independence, the people’s happiness, and the sustainable development of the country.

Beginning his patriotic activities in 1925, and serving in multiple key positions from the early years of the Party’s founding and development until he assumed major responsibilities as Politburo Member, Prime Minister of the Government, Vice Chairman of the National Defense Council, and later Advisor to the Party Central Committee, Pham Van Dong’s revolutionary career was closely tied to the glorious and heroic history of the Party and the Vietnamese revolution.

Throughout his career, Pham Van Dong left a profound mark as a politician deeply committed to building a government “of the people, by the people, and for the people.”

He was an economist attentive to grassroots realities, constantly seeking appropriate steps and gradually reforming economic management mechanisms, contributing to national economic development and improving people’s livelihoods.

He was also a prominent cultural figure of the nation, who highly valued the role of culture and education in the revolutionary process, and a talented diplomat respected on the international stage.

Notably, among the few who had the longest period living and working closely with President Ho Chi Minh, and being directly trained and mentored by him, Pham Van Dong constantly studied and followed his ideology, morality, style, and working methods, becoming one of his closest and most outstanding students.

Throughout his career, he authored many valuable theoretical and practical works, helping orient the Party’s ideology and policies across various fields.

With intellectual depth and profound understanding of reality, Pham Van Dong is recognized for his important contributions to laying the foundations of Ho Chi Minh Studies in Vietnam.

Throughout his revolutionary life, Pham Van Dong embodied the pure and exemplary morality of a communist. In him converged the finest qualities of a revolutionary: absolute loyalty to the Party, wholehearted service to the people; diligence, frugality, integrity, righteousness, and absolute impartiality; integrity in word and deed; and unwavering determination to combat bureaucracy, corruption, and wastefulness.

The 120th anniversary of Pham Van Dong’s birth is a meaningful occasion to reaffirm and spread the values of a brilliant leader’s ideology, morality, and style, inspiring trust, determination, and aspiration to contribute, helping bring the Party’s 14th National Congress Resolution to life and building a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilized, and happy Vietnam.
